Tier 8 factory....where to start?
Hi there,
right now i am kind of stuck at the same point as in my first playthrough, and that is:
Where to start with my Tier 8 factory?
How big should it be? (Answer: bigger)
How do i transport Nitrogen?
Should my first goal be to get nuclear power?
...

I watched a lot of videos and read guides and have unlocked almost all Tiers (just leading edge is missing and the particle enrichment).
I am lost. I just dont know where to start with the next tier factory. It´s so freaking complex.
I think i just build a really large platform, send trains in all directions to collect stuff and then (mabye 100 hours later?!?) i can start to think about setting up a few nuclear power plants.
Or what should i do next?
What did you do at this point in your game? (Last time i just quit playing:))

Thx and bye

Hello

I'm just at the same point of you (1st play time).

Thanks to fuel genrator, I have plenty of electricity, so I don't use nuclear for now (especially because I want to be sure to have what I need to recycle the nuclear waste, I don't want billions of containers full of them).

My base is made of several platform above of each others.

I built a new one for the Blenders, then a second one above where I put several Fluid Buffer. Then I brought Nitrogen there (by train and with a pipeline).
So, anytime I need Nitrogen, I just add a new machine and take Nitrogen upstairs, and thanks to gravity, it just flows in the machine without problem :)

I hope I could help you a bit.

Thx, my factories are consuming 4GW right now, 7 GW max. consumption and my generators produce 10 GW (about 50 Fuel Generators and some 40 Coal Generators). I dont have alternative recipes, cause i spend all my time building factories until now. Oil is getting rare. I think about setting up a plastic factory in the southeast (there is some oil left there) and transporting plastic and nitrogen by train to my huge platform. Then build aluminum factory there and start proucing fused molecular frames to unlock leading edge.
Not sure if this is a good plan, though.
And btw. I know, i need to bring in the bauxite (and ultimately all other ressources) in large quantities to my platform. So i guess thats what i am gonna do. I just hope my energy is enough to get things started.

T8 also, Not my first game so I knew at t8 I was going to tear everything out and reset to t3 miners and 720 belts.
Stage one for me was a modular turbo fuel power setup, each floor is 14 fuel generators, using diluted fuel then refined into turbo fuel.
Get into those hard drives and alt recipes.
MY biggest error was getting ahead of myself I ripped up a kind of messy area and took away my alu and basic copper and iron machines and now ofc iv run low on alu.

Yep same here, first play through, just hit final tiers.

However I'm sitting on 18,000 MW and have enough oil for 24,000 MW so leaving nuclear alone for now.

And I did exactly as you've suggested; started an enormous structure to start over clean. Used 40,000 concrete just on the shell...

But as for how to configure it, I'm definitely just winging it.

Setting up a big railway around the map is very helpful for scaling. You can always just add more trains/freight cars. More work to set up than drones but doesn't require batteries.

But really, it all depends on your style. I'd say a decent fuel power setup is pretty important, though if you don't mind building bigger you can use underclocking to save an absolute ton of power. It's exponential so 2x machines at 50% speed consume less than 1 machine at 100%.

Also, you don't have to build a singular large factory. With trains/drones, if your computer and motivation have limited resources, you can scatter smaller buildings with a specific purpose in mind around the map and then ship the final product to a warehouse for convenience.
