Dedicated servers
Hello to all and good morning. I am trying to get a dedicated server set up for Satisfactory for me and a friend. I am using the SteamCMD/Expirimental build, not a paid service (low.ms/gtx.gaming). I have got so far as to get the server set up on my end. I am able to log in and run around, build, do what ever I want. However; my friend can not log onto my same server. When he inputs the server information on the 'add server' screen, my server doesn't generate for him. We have downloaded everything that we need for playing on dedicated servers. He's able to get as far as I am in creating a server on his side, but we are trying to get him to my side. He is not able to join me through friends list while I am on that specific server, but has been able to join me on others servers using the join friend method. Searching for this topic on google just takes you to how to set one up. Any thoughts? All help is appreciated. Thank you and enjoy your day!

Have you configured your firewall settings? I had a similar issue, and setting up all the port forwarding resolved it for me.

Yes, firewalls are configured properly barring any weird one offs. Everything seems to be the same as mine.

Opened all the necessary ports in your Router?

Sorry but I don't fully understand that. In my research I came across something that was saying the 3 ports I would need. Those 3 being 15777, 15000, and 7777. We have tried every variation of those ports with the server name that we can think of with no luck.

You need to open the ports through your Routers settings. Have you done anything like that? If not if you tell me your Routers Name and Model I can search up how to do it. Model should be underneath the Router where the password is

No offense, but I am going to figure out how to do that. I'm not SUPER tech savvy, but I'm savvy enough that I can figure something out when I need to. But you at least are saying stuff that I can look up and learn.

That being said, I am going to google my router's port opening process. I'll update the post once I do this and see if it fixes anything. Thank you for the info and path way to follow.

That's okay good luck. Once you have opened your ports, and if it still doesn't work, I would suggest disabling your firewall on your PC and get your friend to disable theirs just for testing purposes and see if that helps. Then of course enable your firewall again once you've found the problem.

Port forwarding is definitely a concern, but another might be the IP address. You'll need to connect to the external IP, assuming you're not in the same house.

If the IP you're connecting to is 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x then that's the "local" or "internal" address. You can use a site like whatismyip.com or ipchicken.com to learn your external address.

You should also be aware that depending on your internet service provider, the external address might change periodically. A dynamic DNS provider such as NoIP.com or DynDNS.com can help you deal with that.

That's true. And on that note my ISP has a thing called CG-NAT where it gives me a shared public IP address so it makes it impossible to host servers. So I had to contact them to turn that off for me at no extra cost. So just be aware the issue might not even be your fault.

I know I am using the Public IP address. I had to go and find that.

Then it sounds like your only remaining obstacle is port forwarding. Good luck!

Sadly, after all the research, all the lessons learned, all the frustration of getting it all set up... my router does not offer port forwarding at this time. I use the new T-Mobile Tower. Internet is great, service is good enough. But the secondary perks are not there yet.

Thank you all for your help and input. If, in the future this is all sorted out, I will update this post, just in case someone else comes across the same problem and needs help. Thanks again.

I have never used this service but my friend uses it to circumvent port forwarding. https://playit.gg/
It has guide to set up Minecraft and other games so I'm not sure if it will even work for Satisfactory. But it might work.
Other options are LogMeIn Hamachi. Not sure if they still offer the service I used to use to also by-pass port forwarding but worth a shot.
There's also Radmin VPN which I have used recently to get a modded game working over the internet. There will be guides online on what to do with all options mentioned.
All will introduce some sort of lag but should be okay for just you and your friend. Hope this information helps and you are able to set one up temporary for now so you and your friend can enjoy Satisfactory!

That's all starting to get a little over my head, but I'll see what I can learn. Thanks for the help.

I'd start with Radmin as I know that one works
