Its 2022, the fact you are disregarding an entire segment of gamers who either choose or NEED to use a gamepad is infuriating.
Im with the person who made the post a few days ago. This has been asked for many times for YEARS and it was in the game in the past. Yes, I am aware big picture exists, I am aware that external programs exist. I use both (I use a controller exclusively because of chronic pain issues that MKB causes).

But its been years since I have had to use it to set up EVERYTHING in a game. Thats because its 2022, and for years now, 95% of games come out with at least minimal gamepad support on PC.

Big picture mode gamepad controls should be used to FINE TUNE your excperience, not set the entire thing up.

This is pure lazyness by the devs and I am going to keep pressing this point until you come around on the idea.

"Q&A: Any chance for improved controller support? - ANSWER: Originally Controller Support was added then removed from the Game, until recently the basic answer has been No ... BUT ... this topic has been discussed a lot recently within the Development Team. No decision has been made as they are trying to figure out if they want to have partial Controller Support (like originally in game), or complete Controller Support, or perhaps provide Player the ability to "Map Controller Controls" to keys of their choosing. Due to development issues where they have to "remap Controller Support with each Update", they will mostly likely wait until Version 1.0 (or later) to do something with Controllers if they do decide to add them back in game."

And I should add that I understand smaller games that dont have controller support....but for a game that has grown as big as this one, there is no excuse at this point.

It's 2022 and over the past 40 years of gaming, I have observed the following:
At least 95% of games developed for consoles have controller/gamepad support.
At least 95% of games developed for PC have minimal gamepad support.
;p
I can sympathise with your pain, but you do not need to support your argument with fiction. All you need to do is state that there is a need for controller support for this game. That said, as noted above, it may be a feature once the game is completed. Until then be patient and put your infuriation to rest ;)

We've all thrown silly tantrums in public. This too will pass.

I sympathise with the desire for controller support especially as you want it for accessibility reasons but there's a few things to consider.
1. It's an Early Access game, i.e. it's still in development, and thus they haven't nailed down what all the player abilities are and it would be a waste of resources to spend time implementing controller support just to have to rework that support again whenever a new feature is added. Leaving controller support until they know for certain what all the controls and functions are is efficient.
2. Mapping the game's controls to a gamepad sounds like a nightmare with how many controls there are. Sure, it's basically FPS controls. But after you add those there aren't many buttons left over for things like the map and mail keys, the hotbar, the customiser and build menu.
3. Coffee Stain might be inexperienced with controller support. I'm not familiar with their other games but as indie devs they may not have much experience with implementing it and so are holding fire on it until they're ready to tackle it.

Overall I hope they do add controller support but just because alot of games have controller support doesn't necessarily mean it's easy or practical for this specific developer to add it into this specific unfinished game or that it takes priority over other more far-reaching aspects of the game like the core gameplay loop/progression and bug fixing.

It's only rarely about the number of keys needed, just think of how many key combos there are with 14 buttons :)

Typically it's more about the movement or more swaps or delicate stuff like, apropos, building placement at distance etc.

"Please make my PC game more a console game despite not being released on console more console like, wasting resources on actually devoloping the game for everyone to cater to me and a very small group of people".

I won't stop you from making this request, but there are a 100 and 1 things that they could do for everyones benefit.

One day when you are mentally matured I hope you look back at this post demanding the thing you want be a priority for devs rather than things that benefit everyone and laugh at how naive and self centred you were.

He does come off as a bit of a Karen with entitlement issues ("I will keep bringing this up until I get my way") but to be fair, the game had controller support at a point, and if using M&K hurts, I can get why they'd like that option back; the personal characterization you do here is going a bit far.

People whining about controller support are starting to get a little annoying...
Stamgast Feb 8, 2022 @ 6:32am

I'm 62, i spent most of my life as a mechanic... getting my hands smashed, broken up... torn..... you don't hear me complaining about the lack of controller support. never used one, doubtful I ever will. started on a keyboard, before there was such thing as a mouse..or game pad or controller... first PC was a brand new Commodore 64.. my hands don't always work like they once did.. it's life.. we get old... maybe you need to go talk to your Dr. about some pain management? or maybe this game isn't for you as it is still in development...or maybe get a softer touch keyboard? or there are plenty of emulation software products that you may want to look into? it's 2022 we have options, stop whining and explore other options to over come.. learn to adapt! 8 years in the Marine Corp when i was much younger and lots of life experience has taught me to adapt to life's annoyances..
