Alumina solution- no water going in to refinery at all.
Hey guys, when I google this, I find videos of these MASSIVE setups. I'm on my first game and it's all a bit derpy. Not perfect like all the setups I'm seeing.

My problem is that water will not go into the refinery at all. I created a loop, isolated it with valves, controlled the pressure to 360 m/3 ( i have two refineries at the moment @ 180 each) and water will not go into the refineries. Pipes are upgraded to handle the additional 60 m/3 flow rate I needed.

I have a TON of Bauxite going to it, as Im on a pure node with an MK2 miner and overclocked. Not anticipating the pain this setup would be. I just focused on getting the material to my base.

What am I missing?

Keep in mind Im a huge noob. Just bought the game a few days ago and can't stop playing.

Where is the water stopping in the pipes? Do you need pumps somewhere along the way? Are the valves/pumps, if any, facing the right way? Are pumps powered?

What are you doing with the excess water from the scrap refinery when it's all running?

Aluminum production after a only few days as a new player is impressive. Or excessive, but that's fine too :)

This is what I point to for a "starter" setup for aluminum products with all base recipes:

Is the valve facing the right direction?..
(had this one once)

Do you use any pumps?..

I know these questions are stupid, but I can't think of any other problems.

You only got the game a few days ago and your already on bauxite and aluminia ?????

Anyway ... to answer your water problem do you have any of those valves to slow down the flow of water , the reason i ask is because i think they are bugged , i put some in my coal fired power station pipe lines and NO water would flow , i removed them and the power stations got water straight away , and before anyone else says this .... i do know they are directional.

Take out the flow meter just to see what happens.
Hey guys I ended up figuring it out. Kinda. I just ran two separate pipes, one for each refinery and it's good. Since then I've figured out some things with pipelines, so maybe I could run one pipe to both, but it's working for now. Then I had the problem with waste water, which I piped back through the system after running it all the way to my coal power plants, that just didn't work very well and the water kept backing up. Now it is pretty efficient, and the waste water just gets re-used.

As mentioned above, the valves do not work properly. They just restrict flow for no reason, so I took them all out of my systems.

Now I have so much bloody aluminium I don't know what to do with it. Same with Quartz. Just completely inundated with both.

I started off with stuff scattered everywhere, then I tore it all down to try making it more efficient. Now I'm at the point where I need to do another overhaul to accommodate all these resources. Mostly I have the raw stuff refined away from my main center, and bring the finished product in, but now I have a massive system just for aluminium right at my base.

What a game. It's so addictive. Yeah I've been playing way too much haha.

Man I wish I could get mine that organised haha. As I said, my setups are all pretty derpy. Im basically at the point where I need to tear a bunch of it down but it would take HOURS. Realistically, I could tear every single thing down and rebuild it. Because I have stuff running absolutely everywhere right now. It's a mess. As I figure out how things work and what I need where it will evolve.

Im going to stop upgrading for a while and focus on just organising it all. Got the jetpack though! That's pretty neat and will help with planning.

I just have a very basic set up with two refineries making Alumina Solution feeding a single refinery to make the scrap, I only used two water extractors since the output from the scrap acts as the third extractor, no valves used in the build (see the simplified image made with the SaLT program)
