That is the behaviour I actually want. I want the train to wait at the station until the content can be fully unloaded. This works quite well. The train then only makes trips with full loads instead of constantly running around topping things off. Less traffic that way, keeping the train tracks less congested.
What happens just as the game loads up, is the train station performing a partial/"topping off" action. Even though it shouldn't. It should resume the wait process instead. The train then gets the containers back and then it's stuck: Train is still not fully emptied, and the station has already performed a load/unload cycle for the train. The station will not repeat the process as long as the train remains at the station.
The station then runs out of materials completely, but the train still waits for the last bits to be emptied which never happens. Both the train and the station is stuck waiting for each other indefinitely. The station should take the remaining materials off the train, but that never happens. Remember, the station has already performed a partial cycle.
The only way to solve this is to remove the train, and then set it back and restore the stop schedule. (quite tedious if there are many stations to collect stuff at.)
As previously described, this onlöy happens right after loading a save p.
Once all the involved trains have been reset, everything works as intended over and over without trains getting stuck.
Tried without mods too, but that makes no difference. behaviour upon loading a game is the same.
Maybe mods did permanently change the save slots, but. In order to test that I have to start a fresh session, and getting that session to a stage where I can test trains out is just too much for now.
I did eventually come around and run a new session completely free of mods. The behaviour remains the same as previously described.
Fully load/unload trains are thus kinda useless.
