Have you correctly put your conveyors (there are 2 inputs and 2 outputs on each platform) ?
Have you setup correctly the platform for loading/unloading (Orange buttons) ?
Please provide us screenshots for more help.
I think there needs to be some clarification, but as written, "resources not going into the freight platform" can only be caused by the station not having power (or if the container is already full). If you had the belt connected to the wrong ports, the resources wouldn't even get to the platform since the belt would be running the opposite direction.
So to broaden the possible problems:
If the freight isn't being loaded onto the train, then it's because that specific platform isn't set to Load; each platform has its own interface, make sure the picture with the arrow pointing down is lit up.
If the train is arriving with freight but not unloading, then similarly, that platform isn't set to Unload OR you're driving the train manually, preventing it from auto-docking.
If all those things are set correctly and it's still not loading, I suggest deleting the platform and rebuilding it. While I haven't seen this bug happen with platforms, it has been possible in the past to "double build" objects in a location where they perfectly overlap. It used to happen a lot with things like mergers. There would be 2 mergers, one "inside" the other, and it was random which one a belt would connect to, so you could have belts going in, but nothing coming out the other side. This bug is rare now, but I've still seen double-building happen in the current (Update III) release.
Good luck with your trains, which are hopefully not going to become instantly obsolete with tomorrow's patch once drones are added. lol
Are you trying to load multiple freight cars from the same freight platform? If that's the case then it will not work. One freight platform for every freight car
Turns out that my train station was pointing the wrong way, when i fliped the train station and reconnected power, freight platforms immediately started to load stuff from belts.
Only the Station has direction, the pointy end faces out. The Platforms can go with loading/unloading ports facing either way.
