Why do you care about Epic Login?
Hopefully this doesn't turn into a flame war, thats not the intent.

I legitimately don't understand peoples issue with creating an account, with EPIC or any other service.

1. Can't be privacy. I guarantee each and every one of you have a login for something that is mining your data in some way (facebook, insta, tik tok...literally anything). You think steam doesn't mine data?
2. Can't be cost; it's free
3. Can't be because you don't like the EPIC client; I agree, I think it's trash, but you don't have to use it here. Honestly I don't think Steam is great either but it's functional.
4. Can't be the time it takes to signup, it's literally minutes and you only do this once. ever. It takes you longer to complain on the forums then it does to signup.
5. Don't want another login? I'm sure you won't notice the this additional login among your other 15 logins for other services. I'm also sure you have some low priority login you could match it with so you don't forget.
6. Love steam not Epic? Seriously, who cares. I'll shift where ever the value is. I have no loyalties, and you don't either.

So what is it?

Remember to also update your dedicated server, otherwise you will get a version mismatch error!

Also, please remember to keep discussions constructive and respectful. Ranting about Epic Games doesn't fix the issues, instead report them in the Bugs & Technical Issues subforum or on the QA Site https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/ - Thank you!

If the game hasn't required one previously, it shouldn't need one now. It looks like a bug, not a feature.

This is bait.

I do think it's awkward for sure, but not a deal breaker.

Let me just create another ******* account for something I never wanted in the first place. That's not annoying at all

Ok it's this point of view I wanted to understand. If I'm reading in between the lines, it's not necessarily that you had to make one, it's more that you don't get any value from making one. i.e. why couldn't they just use steam?

Just because you can't fathom my reasons for opposing Third-Party affiliate login requirements, does not make them unreasonable. It suggests a shortfall of empathy on your part however.

Also: implying everyone has 'facebook, insta, tik tok' or other such garbage and therefore 'what is one more step in the erosion of privacies?' angle.

No. I don't subscribe to them by choice, and I don't subscribe to Epic.

Any service that you pay for / sign up for / login to is an endorsement of that service.

I do not endorse Epic Games.

You're right I am having trouble understanding; thus this post. I'm genuinely asking "why". What you've offered so far by reasoning is... i don't subscribe. The question is why, not that you don't.

I wasn't aware empathy was needed here? Are there feelings involved?

The issue is that it's bugged, even if you do have an epic account it's not going to stop wanting you to log in, it also doesn't work currently so it forces you into offline mode.

1, 4, 5, 6.

I also don't want to get junk mail sent to my e-mail account, so I don't want to give it to anyone I don't need to. Even if I give a reputable company my email address, just the act of them sending me an email disseminates my email address to every host along the internet between them and me so it potentially exposes my email address to unwanted people.

I also don't want any more accounts than necessary as each and every account has the possibility of a data breach that will leak my private data to hackers. I'm sure my data has been leaked in the past and it will be leaked in the future. I can't ever prevent that completely as there's always some undetected flaw in computer systems but I can try to minimize the risk by having no more accounts than necessary.

Having to agree to multiple external ToS after Ive already agreed to a ToS and bought the game is unacceptable from a legal and ethical perspective period.

This is all over media not just video games, movies musics art etc. its all a joke and this is just spitting in consumers eye at this point.

We don't need to give a reason or argue against your strawmen. Pushing for a 'reason' instead of just accepting our opinion is a classic defensive tactic used when one party already knows they have done a wrong and are trying to rationalize and explain it away.

Here is a proper reason anyway I already Own the game once on epic before it was on steam because of coffeestain bait and switch, then i bought another copy on steam when it was release because i was enjoying multiplayer and wanted kiddos to be able to use one of my clients. When signing in to epic with my steam version they become linked and I can no longer run both at the same time....

Did you actually read the terms of service of epic stores
please go and read
I will not sign into epic store and give them all my details
Then they can give them to the Chinese government on wherever they feel like to
they sell all your personal details to any
I don't trust epic stores
I don't even take free games off them

Why do care so much that people care?

Epic TOS/EULA leave much to be desired. If you don't want to use the service or have a need to, there shouldn't be a nag to do so. It is also in anyone's best interest to maintain minimal exposure. Only the indiscriminate or ignorant give no thought to apprehension. If it is a bug, then it should be fixed. If it is now going to be a requirement, it should have been declared and notice provided in the game's EULA/TOS.

you can prove all of this with substantial, viable evidence? or are you just speaking through the tin foil. i really don't understand where everyone is getting this idea from, i'd be more concerned with Google and the fact they've set up shop in china ... and here you're worried about Epic lol.
