I do think it's awkward for sure, but not a deal breaker.
Ok it's this point of view I wanted to understand. If I'm reading in between the lines, it's not necessarily that you had to make one, it's more that you don't get any value from making one. i.e. why couldn't they just use steam?
Also: implying everyone has 'facebook, insta, tik tok' or other such garbage and therefore 'what is one more step in the erosion of privacies?' angle.
No. I don't subscribe to them by choice, and I don't subscribe to Epic.
I do not endorse Epic Games.
You're right I am having trouble understanding; thus this post. I'm genuinely asking "why". What you've offered so far by reasoning is... i don't subscribe. The question is why, not that you don't.
I wasn't aware empathy was needed here? Are there feelings involved?
I also don't want to get junk mail sent to my e-mail account, so I don't want to give it to anyone I don't need to. Even if I give a reputable company my email address, just the act of them sending me an email disseminates my email address to every host along the internet between them and me so it potentially exposes my email address to unwanted people.
I also don't want any more accounts than necessary as each and every account has the possibility of a data breach that will leak my private data to hackers. I'm sure my data has been leaked in the past and it will be leaked in the future. I can't ever prevent that completely as there's always some undetected flaw in computer systems but I can try to minimize the risk by having no more accounts than necessary.
This is all over media not just video games, movies musics art etc. its all a joke and this is just spitting in consumers eye at this point.
We don't need to give a reason or argue against your strawmen. Pushing for a 'reason' instead of just accepting our opinion is a classic defensive tactic used when one party already knows they have done a wrong and are trying to rationalize and explain it away.
Here is a proper reason anyway I already Own the game once on epic before it was on steam because of coffeestain bait and switch, then i bought another copy on steam when it was release because i was enjoying multiplayer and wanted kiddos to be able to use one of my clients. When signing in to epic with my steam version they become linked and I can no longer run both at the same time....
please go and read
I will not sign into epic store and give them all my details
Then they can give them to the Chinese government on wherever they feel like to
they sell all your personal details to any
I don't trust epic stores
I don't even take free games off them
Epic TOS/EULA leave much to be desired. If you don't want to use the service or have a need to, there shouldn't be a nag to do so. It is also in anyone's best interest to maintain minimal exposure. Only the indiscriminate or ignorant give no thought to apprehension. If it is a bug, then it should be fixed. If it is now going to be a requirement, it should have been declared and notice provided in the game's EULA/TOS.
