How do you find your miners again?

Dropped a miner on a copper ore mining field, ran off chasing some creatures.
Now if I scan the ore I was mining doesnt show but I have a miner still in operation there. Can't see it either on the scan or the map HUD?

as new player its hard to get around on the big map and easy to get lost, just build your base and sooner or later when you need more copper you might find it again and have a laugh

Obviously the base is on the HUD so I can't lose that. The copper mine was around 160 from the base. I've been everywhere and I can't find it. No indication of where it is at all.
I'll just head off to another field.

I'm on the tutorial so can't open the map yet.

EDIT - Quit out of game, restarted, rescanned and its now showing the field that was 160 from my base. Just arrived to empty the miner.

Use beacons, craftable in the workshop.

I use rail only for ore transport (smelt to ingots onsite) therefore use trainstation names to distinguish locations.

What I did when I first started playing was I tried to remember or sometimes just jotted down on a piece of paper Iron node East of HUB and roughly how far. Until you get beacons or the map sometimes a little note taking is helpful. :)

Just unlocked them. Think I'm jumping ahead a bit so I'll just do what I can and see what other goodies I unlock through the Tiers

Considering he's still dropping portable miners, I don't think he'll be investing in railways any time soon.

It gets a lot eaiser to find your miners in the early game once you start automated mining. Just follow the power lines.
