Can I raise the level of the foundation?
Like JUST high enough to cover that one giant rock that's sticking out of the middle of an otherwise empty, flat plain? I guess you can blow them up later in the game (the rocks), but for now just trying to avoid this one.
Is there any trick to either somehow taking out the rock now, or just starting a foundation above it?

You can connect foundations to each other and stack them however you want. The only changes to the land that you can make is to remove foliage, very small rocks, or specific boulders designed to be blown up. That pillar in the middle of the plains is there for life.

Explodeable rocks have an encroachment hitbox and can't be built into, but it's possible to build over them. If you want to raise your foundation, you can do it like this:

Let's say you're expanding an existing foundation and run into an obstacle, like this hillside.

You can build foundations on top of existing ones to raise their level by however much you want.

Once you reach a desirable level, you can remove adjacent foundations and rebuild off the new highest level you've created, then continue building off that, with more foundation, ramps or whatever you like.

Wow, ask and you shall receive, thanks so much here. Started doing just this and yep, easy enough.
Building a base like this has been something I've been dreading some, just getting in there and slapping stuff around, its not that big of a deal after all =P I'm still sucking...oh my God my base looks like hell, but I haven't unlocked everything either, so hopefully there'll be stuff soon to help with the mess I've made.
Thanks again for your help here, VERY good looking out man =]
