Do you start on tier 0 or do you skip the tutorial?
Everytime I start the game from scratch I feel like I should start from nothing, is it just me? Do you usually skip tier 0?

If I'm starting over due to a new update, I tend to start at tier 0. Maybe I'll catch a bug I can report to help the devs.

Tutorial, it's to learn the mechanics of the game, if you know the base and start a new game, you can skip.

Skip until release

I used to do it every time but I've stopped recently. It's good for learning the game's mechanics and controls for new players but I've recently started feeling like it holds too much back for too long and I wind up tearing everything I made in the tutorial down anyway. I've been enjoying skipping much more recently.

I'm only on my 2nd playthrough, figured I'd start fresh again with the update so made sense to take it from the start.
I took a long break though waiting for next update, I guess if I had started over a lot of times it would be more tempting to skip it.
Each to their own I guess.

Tier 0 is a tutorial. Running through it more than once is for masochists.

I used to run through the tutorial, but only so i could get the cool drop ship scene...

These days, i leap into tier 1...as i have a planet to ruin.

Or for people who like to min/max things? Doing it better next time?

There is literally nothing you can get in Tier 0 that you don't just automatically get from skipping it. If you're talking about min/maxing, then skipping it would be ideal because you start with enough materials to build several miners, smelters, constructors, ect

Sometimes efficiency is its own reward. I can beat a Factorio map as fast as possible. Or I can do it well.

Ok, but what does that have to do with anything? You LITERALLY get the exact same materials if you start at tier 1. It's not about efficiency or doing it "better". There is zero practical reason to redo the tutorial

This makes zero sense.

My biggest disappoint from skipping the tutorial is that I don't get to watch the landing.

skip, and i wanna scream how boring it is until coal power is unlocked. every damn new run i start... for me real gameplay starts there... same second i can scan for coal nodes, then i break everything down, carry essentials to build and move...

my friend always starts with zero, at least 15 times or more so far he went from start, and always gives up around reaching tier 7, gets very frustrating then... for me a bit too... i get bored by then and just wanna start fresh on new location, sometimes i do, abandon all, but to lazy to unlock tech, just go to new place and build all from nothing, just carry full inventory of materials so i can build alot.. game is not finished and does not really have an ending so... mapping and finding hdds is also very fun part, map is a masterpiece, dont even mind its bugged and you can get stuck and many places, or some things float in the air, cuz map needs polish...
