Visible power grid on the map
Please let us see our power grid on the map.  I never thought i would need this feature until i had a breakdown of my power grid just the other day.

No it wasn't because of update 4.

I had a train delivering compacted coal glitch out and get stuck on the track.  It wouldn't move under manual control and i had to delete the thing and replace it. Also one of the engines was missing... weird

Anyway the problem then became how the hell do i jump start a 15 giga watt turbo fuel power plant that's based on oil production.  I have no power so i need to start oil production... uhhh... well crap.

The entire outpost that provides for the grid needs about 800 mw.

Thankfully my coal powerplant is literally right next to the turbo fuel plant but i can't just turn it back on.

I needed to isolate this outpost from the rest of my grid so i can get it up and running first.

Isolate the coal pumps
Then isolate the oil outpost
Then isolate each other outpost and see if the grid holds.

Which set of power lines leading out of here is connected to what ? My grid is massive at this point in the game and hell if i remember what leads to where without following the line.

Thankfully the interactive map shows the location of lines and poles so i could plan out what needed to be cut off and where to snip the line.

This turned an already arduous process into something that was manageable but still a pain in the ass.

Then it dawned on me... holy crap i would be so lost without being able to see this.

Finally after about 2 hours i finally managed to get my full power grid and all my outposts  powered again.  But man without being able to see my grid i might still be trying to get things running.

It's a much needed feature ...that you won't use, until stuff hits the fan.

Then it's basically required.

Make power banks to prevent this.

Sucks that a bug screwed you up. That should not have happened to begin with.

The new power storage batteries are a thing now. If bugs like this persist you should probably make a big bank of several hundred of them.

Yeh, Batteries are awesome, make a huge stack and then cut em out of the grid till needed.

I keep mine in the grid. In case of overdraw they kick in and help, otherwise they just stay fully charged waiting for their turn.

This should give me about 50 min to figure things out insted of only 20 sec XD

Also remember that Locomotive engine that disappeared... well i uh.... found it ?

It apparently got yeeted half way across the map from blue crater and then buried itself somewhere under the map in the northern part of red forest just outside one of my outposts.

That happened to me soon after creating my first train station on my 2nd play through, during Update 4 Experimental. Lost my locomotive, plus a couple of storage cars. Deleting the tracks they were on as well as the nearby station had something to do with it.

So I have an icon for the locomotive on my map in the Northern forest area, but it's underground I guess. Can't see it in game.
