How do you all place water extractors?
I see these crazy setups with water extractors placed so perfectly and I cannot get it down, they don't snap to a n y t h i n g

I try to line up the bottom corners of the hitboxes.

Practice, practice, and did I mention a lot more practice? :D

Trial and error, plus utilization of foundations to try and manually align to.... (lots of coffee involved too!)

This is what I ended up doing. It works but there's no reason for it to be so weird and tedious

Well, it could've been worse; the water extractor could have been bouncing or floating with the water... Luckily this game doesn't take the physics of buoyancy into account either :D

I place a row of foundations, and then I place a foundation at the end of the line blocking anything from being placed. That way, I can line up the water extractor with the end of the line.

And I just place the water extractor in the water, and use my wasd keys to move tiny amounts until it is as close to the foundations as possible. Then I just go down the line. Usually that's fine for 3 or 4 in a row. Anything more than that and I'd probably want to line them up visually with a foundation somehow to keep it consistent.

I do something very similar to this.

I build a row of foundations on either end of the row (perpendicular to the proposed Extractor row), and then build two rows of pipes 20m apart from end-to-end (along the length of the Extractor row).

The pipes act as a corral of sorts and prevent the Extractors from meandering. The foundations are just for pipe alignment.

On water.

Easiest way I've found is to align the ladders.
