Satisfactory

Satisfactory

Is having mods cheating, if not which one do you recommend
I hesitate because in other games using mods prove to be more a problem than not using them. anyway thanks for the suggestions.

Depends on what kind of mod. Quality of life mods and UI mods are definitely not cheating imo. Mods that increase stack sizes, inventory capacity or overall just buff the player are definitely cheating

Cheating by define is gaining an advantage or gain in ANY form in the game that's NOT by design/intended by its creator.
That definition only makes sense for competivive games including MMO PvE games, as you compete with others for being able to e.g. defeat a certain boss. For single-player and non-competitive games it's obviously wrong as developers often intentionally put in cheat codes which wouldn't count as cheats according to your definition.

In fact, I'd argue that for sandbox games like Satisfactory there are virtually no mods which are "cheating" mods by itself, as even basically the most extreme form of "gameplay advantage" (no cost + flying) is often available in games like that as "creative mode" and thus IMHO cannot be counted as cheat by itself. Instead, for me the distinction between "cheat" and "no cheat" isn't the mod, but the use of the mod: If you install the mod because you think it in general improves the game, it's not a cheat. If you install the mod in order to tempoarily overcome a problem the game gives you, it's a cheat.

For example, if you think that the game should have a drone or flying mode to ease building and use a fly command for that, it IMHO isn't cheating. But if you use the same mod because you want to get on a hill and have forgotten to carry some concrete or a jetpack, it's a cheat.
Stop worrying about what other people think, play your game the way You feel like playing. As long as you dont ruin stuff for others in mp its all good in my book!

There are TONS of great mods for this game, just dive in.
The mod that i say should be in the game itself is the smart one for laying foundations that is pretty rad. Love it. What do you think of the throughput counter for your output does it work well, I've tried the signs don't work would of been nice to have signs for some of the containers. Thanks guys. I just didn't want to spoil my game experience. Love this HUge game.
Of course its cheating despite whatever semantics or other nonsense people try to use because they need a justification. That being said its a non-competitive single player (mostly) experience so it doesn't matter, play the game how you like. It's like board games (or any games really), as long as everyone is in agreement you are free to change the rules how you wish.
Just don't be one of those clowns who uses cheats/mods/exploits to make/do something and then claim they did it the hard way. That's just pathetic.

Who cares if it is or isn't cheating as long as you have fun with the game it doesn't matter.
The board games example is actually good: Do you really think it counts as "cheating" to modify rules of board games?

I'd say that cheating is only if you violate the rules, but not if you modify the rules. Modifying the rules is basically just adding settings to the game.

I would agree but some for this particular genre of game the mods tend to make the game harder and more complex by adding more layers and recipes. As a result you enmd up having to deal with more by-products and stuff. Factorio is a good example of this. This game does have a lot of mods that are pretty much cheating though. I honestly have zero interest in this games mods cause most of them just seem like thinly veiled get out of jail free cards.
Just so I'm clear, are there no MODS allowed in Experimental branch? I've heard both answers. I know the ones I've used aren't working, even after updating them. and DX12, should we use that or stick with DX11? (1080ti/3900x)

Mods work on either but is more likely to break on experimental.

As I read, the modloader has to be adapted to the new unreal engine, and this takes time.

So, for now, no mods on experimental.

Yes, but some mods are more fragile than others, such as Refined Power, Programmable Elevators and LightItUp, making the matter worse.

my problem with mods on games is that your not playing it as the developer wishes you to experience it, on the flipside developers dont know everything a player wants either.

As long as mods are not forced, and they are completely optional, then its only cheating if the person using them feels it is.

but my own personal view is i dislike them, even if and when they improve a game
it greatly would depends on the mods you choose. Some mods can just be quality of life or flat out make it harder.

Can't say I understand that viewpoint, unless you just mean for this game specifically, everyone is different, and modding is a great way to customize a game to your own personal style, they can also be used to greatly lengthen the longevity of a game.

For an open world/sandbox type of game, I do like to experience it vanilla, before I start modding, I have 120 hours of Satisfactory without using any mods, in the future when I play again(after more stable updates), I will play again, with out mods, but at some point, I will probably start playing with some mods.

Minecraft/Skyrim are both games I have done that with, and now I will not play them without mods, because I have already experienced the base game, and it is not as fun as the modded experience.(Despite the vanilla experience being just fine when first playing)
