Early game is so much "fun (not)
Step 1: die
Step 2: respawn with 3 hp
Step 3: try to find berries that restore 0.000000000000000000001 hp
Step 4: in the process get attacked by hostile creatures while still having 3 hp
Step 5: die
Step 6: repeat

Well, my factory my not produce enough of metals, but it's sure as hell is the most efficient salt factory in the entire universe.

I never heal until I'm able to craft inhalers, so if you're dying constantly before you can do that, sounds like you're just being careless and throwing yourself off a lot of high areas.

You might have picked one of the starting points that are a bit more challenging. Resources that are bit further out and more hostile creatures near by. I selected the first one from the left my first time. Example, the desert area is a lot harder to get started in.

Just make sure you carry a lot of food with you and you will be fine. That is how I do and it works 100%

can be a pain until you get the xeno basher

Don't mess with higher tier mobs until you get the xeno-basher and inhalers. If other mobs are giving you trouble, then I can only suggest being more careful

I think it's suppose to be rewarding to progress, and in my opinion it is. I only died one time in early game, and it was 100% my own dumb accident. It was an alcohol related incident.

Gonna miss them when they're gone.

The only times I ever die are due to gravity, monsters in this game simply aren't very threatening.

Enemies are a no issue when you understand how to counter their attacks/movements.

But yeah some more help at the beginning would be definitely good thing.

I think early game is the best, i love helping people start their factory. Not sure how your having issues with combat in this game though

I think OP is noob.

Hyperbole much?

Learning curve... which one can find in any game or the real world. I too can be careless in Counter Strike just to spot some campers and (sir) dies a lot, but that's my own fault, not the game.

I'm the opposite, I only heal with berries and nuts. By the time I get to coal I typically have 2-3 stacks of nuts and at least a stack of berries in my HUB storage. I also don't get hit often in combat, even without bladerunners I can take down the larger hogs and spitters. Bladerunners make it easier though and are a large reason I don't take much damage, they reduce fall damage quite a bit and make dodging way easier. Always rush Caterium MAM tree in new games because of that.

I've only did twice and that was mostly from falling to my death. You must be doing something wrong.

Enemies are a pain, but I always get the rebar gun as soon as I can. It's not that far down the research tree and you should be able to get it within an hour or so of unlocking the MAM. Once you have it combat becomes pretty easy.

Initial charge dogs, jump and hit them as they run under you during jump. For the range Alien/Predator quadpeds sprint until there initial spam attack is done, thereafter smash and check for their charge up shotgun/short range burst attack. Easy enough to predict.

I'm not going to give you a hard time, but its not that challenging, apply yourself and you should be fine.
