Just make sure you carry a lot of food with you and you will be fine. That is how I do and it works 100%
I think it's suppose to be rewarding to progress, and in my opinion it is. I only died one time in early game, and it was 100% my own dumb accident. It was an alcohol related incident.
But yeah some more help at the beginning would be definitely good thing.
I think OP is noob.
Learning curve... which one can find in any game or the real world. I too can be careless in Counter Strike just to spot some campers and (sir) dies a lot, but that's my own fault, not the game.
I've only did twice and that was mostly from falling to my death. You must be doing something wrong.
I'm not going to give you a hard time, but its not that challenging, apply yourself and you should be fine.
