and why make additional trains if you can just add more carts.
1600m3 in fluid freight car
A "solid" freight can hold 32 stacks, the stack size of the packaged nitrogen is 100, and each hold 4m^3 of nitro
32*100*4 = 12800m^3
So you can compact 8 fluid freight cars into one single solid freight car, at the cost of a bit of power with the packagers.
You can recycle the fluid tanks easily. The space you saved can be used to redirect those into another freight car
TL;DR it's very useful if you're using a substential amount of nitrogen. If it's a temporary base to get you to Tier 8, don't bother with it
EDIT: it also depends on need and personal preference. If you're not struggling with space and power, and that you find fluid freight cars to look cooler (which I agree with), you could totally have 3 trains of 15 cars each with no downsides
It's needed for the T8 project assembly components and to build the Particle Accelerator. Other than that, its needed for MK3 Miners and Turbo Motors now as their base recipe has changed. You can get around the turbo motors with an alt recipe, but not for the MK3 miner or particle accelerator.
Then the only source of nitrogen I could find was at the bottom of a cliff, so I thought I'd build my first fluid tower... which was totally unncessary as nitrogen (in this game) doesn't need pumps to go up hill. Sigh.
Once the system is primed it is a perfect loop and in my build gave me more than enough nitrogen for all my T8 needs.
I chose drones as I'd no desire to build a train line or pipe network to the nitrogen vents from my well established bases.
