S.A.M. Ore

I set up my base (unknowingly) right next to the only S.A.M. ore deposit I've ever seen. After getting terrified by the spidery things (I'm too stubborn to use arachniphobia mode) I set up a mine on it. I've got a whole storage container's worth and I was wondering how to open up the research opportunity in the M.A.M. to research my ore. My best guess is to complete all other research trees(with the exception of the current FICSMAS one) is this true?

Wow, you got a full container? I think I filled one up some months ago but it took a couple of weeks.

Arachnophobia mode simply replaces spiders with pictures of cats, so I'm not sure if it's better. They still come at you.

I've found 3 SAM deposits - one in the bottom of a pit under the arch in Grass Fields, one on a pedestal in the crater lake on the other side of the purple forest, and one on a high mesa with a bunch of spiky curved fingers by the pink forest. That one is the only one I've gotten a decent amount from, but it takes several server restarts and save loads, because it dries up after a while.

Yeah the Mk.I miner doesn't seem to work too well. I know what arachniphobia mode does, but I'm a bit of an arachniphobe myself. That's why I was too stubborn to put it on, I feel games SHOULD be scary. It adds to the game, makes it feel like a real survival situation. Having realized death has no real consequence in this game, the spidery bois are the only things that still hold fear for me.

I didn't know that. The description says it's similar to gold, can't wait to see what type of high speed ultra-computer things the devs make with it.
