Scary or not, they're really easy to handle.
Besides, first-person-flamethrowing is a sadly under-represented genre compared to first-person-shooters.
I agree.
Satisfactory could get a more chemical oriented update, especially for it's higher tiers. S.A.M. ore could be processed in more laboratory style buildings that need to be pristine, and chemical treatments of the materials they are build out off could be the way to go.
Now that you have some chemicals laying around, why wouldn't you build a weapon out of that? There are plenty of fluorine and chlorine products that get used in industrial and laboratorial cleaning for the best results. So if you could introduce a Chlorine Trifluoride launcher that would be awesome.
Let's put it like this: This would be a "flamethrower" that is toxic, lethal when inhaled, acidic enough to burn through your bodyparts, flammable and explosive. Worse: After it has reacted with something the resulting chemical can also be explosive, or flammable, or acidic etc. This stuff is so nasty the very Nazi's said it was too dangerous to use. Seems like a perfect fit for some group that doesn't really care what they kill.
On a serious note, arachnophobia is a learned fear. It stems from a lack of education about arachnids. The amount of misinformation about spiders that floats around is astonishing, and ridiculous.
