I think the Rebar gun needs some work
I think the Rebar gun needs some work. Here’s why.

I spent a lot of resources just to research this gun. Most buildings did not cost as much and I still had to spend resources to make the gun itself.
Found out that I also needed to research the ammo which is also very expensive. Then make each bullet, not clip, one bullet each.

The gun itself is:
Weak
Slow to reload
Single shot.
Poor accuracy.

Not the weapon of choice when fighting multiple fast moving predators.

I would love to see the weapon with better stats or not cost nearly as much.
More guns would be great to. :)

Thank you for your time and liking the game.

I don't find the guns worth bothering with. Circle-strafing with a xeno-basher-- maybe bunny-hopping to avoid a charge-- is all that is needed to play through an entire game.

Nobelisks are possibly under-rated, though.

There is a weapon with better stats later, but the problem is not the weapon - it's your perspective on what is "expensive". These things are not expensive. If you think they are, you need to focus on learning how to scale up your production. If you don't you're really going to struggle with advancing tiers in the game, because all this is dirt cheap compared to what's coming.

It doesn't really need work, you have the rifle in which the magazine size is 10 and each shot does 6 damage. The rebar isn't weak, it's just slow and each shot does 15 damage. The rebar is more of a poor man's weapon.

It's an early game weapon, and gives you a ranged option. It's not an ideal weapon for spitters, but it's pretty good for sniping the hog things from spots where they can't reach you.

My problem isn't with the guns as much as the next level dodging and predictive movement the spitters pull off. Most players in FPS aren't that skilled, but these animals sure as heck are.

Spitters are best attacked with melee weapons, at least until you have the rifle. Something i also find useful if dealing with groups of them is to throw down a foundation and box myself in with one hole conveyor walls that i can snipe through.

Their predictive algorithm is what makes them weak.

Stand at a distance. Strafe left, wait for them to start firing, stop strafing and just stand still. The shot will pass where you would have walked.
At closer ranges, add strafing in the opposite direction.
Even closer? They'll try to keep their distance and run away. Chasing them but not catching up to them means they'll keep running and stop shooting.

Because they are pinpoint accurate on moving targets they are very easy to dodge. Just change in the opposite direction you were going!

Wait...the rebar gun ammo is expensive?

It's iron poles...

And they are very good at taking out fireflies from a distance.

If only there was some way to automate all of this... damn a game about automating a factory would be amazing!

spitters, also big ones, are weak to the xeno basher. go in clinch and bash'em.

as others already wrote, the rebar is great for hogs when they can't reach you and fireflies.

yes, you need to train the rythm, to reload effectively.
it's a challenge to get a small hog when it is running towards you. but it's possible. I did it a couple of times. don't try with a big hog, though. go for these only from atop a wreck or rock. it will flee when it can't reach you. wait for it to come back, then hit it again.

the rifle comes later, it is really expensive. you get the rebar gun for a 'tip' so to say.

Speak for yourself. I actually prefer the rebar gun over the rifle simply because it takes practice and skill to use.

Once you get comfortable with the round's flight physics, it gets easy to even lead and hit a horizontally-moving target.

And you'll be glad to have that skill later when throwing Nobelisks.

They have definitively upped the effectiveness of the bombs.

I actually prefer the rebar gun over the rifle. It only takes between 4-6 shots to take down the large variants of the spitters. I tend to only use it on large spitters and sometimes the plant that turns into bee like creatures if there are several of them clustered together. For the charging creatures, spiders, and smaller spitters I much prefer to use melee weapons on them since they are so much easier to fight without taking any damage, so it is not worth wasting ammo on them.

The one real downside of the rebar gun against the spitters is that their shot projectiles block your rebar bolt midair. So you have to try to be careful to fire such that the shot does not run into their shots or you won't end up hitting them.

Rebar gun is trash. Some monsters will glitch out and respawn before the gun can actually win.
Nobelisks are the REAL ranged weapon of choice. They're sticky, they're powerful, and most of all they're FUN.

It can be annoying when the creatures teleport away mid-fight and you have to start over. But it is mostly avoidable so long as you don't draw them to far from their starting point.
