Can anyone compare this to modded Minecraft for me?
I still have my 200 mod, 5 minute load time 1.7.10 server, but haven't touched it in a while. I think I finally burnt myself out, but this is giving me that fuzzy feeling.

I just can't get into Factorio, but this reminds me of my long days of tech building in Minecraft. I really enjoyed all that.. does this compare? And with curves?

Minecraft late 80's looking graphics that people went crazy over.
Satisfactory modern graphics, looks better.

Sorry just my comparison. :)

and missing the mark by quite a lot lol.

modded minecraft .. i've plenty of IC2 and BuildCraft experience so i know what you are referring to. granted, similar in concept IC2 and BC both offer a more realistic approach to power, production and automation resulting in rather grindy loops. i know you know what i'm talking about lol. lastly you are subject to a much more restricted access to resources.

here in Satisfactory the focus is more on a casual building environment where you are free to build at your leisure. the factory building isn't as complex as some of the Industrial/Automation mods for MC but it still offers enough for the necessity to plan out your factory builds. although there are many that ignore some of those aspects and just overload production lines without any consideration for the numbers. finally, resources are infinite and locations are all static so this is a persistent element throughout any playthrough, also adding to the more casual aspects of gameplay.

in any case, they are very different experiences.

I’ve played a lot of Gregtech 5 Unofficial, which is about as convoluted as Minecraft tech mods get.

Satisfactory certainly reminds me of that in many ways, even though objectively they’re quite different. I think the similarity comes from the sheer scale of what you end up building, and the assembly-line nature of Minecraft tech mods.

It’s much friendlier than IC2-derived mods, since it doesn’t have any of the “minor mistakes make machines blow up” user-hostile tradition that’s pretty common in Minecraft tech mods.

Minecraft tech mods have always suffered from the limitations of trying to shoehorn things into Minecraft’s limited engine. Satisfactory’s conveyor belts are far more sophisticated than the “item pipes” that are common in Minecraft mods, and Satisfactory’s trains are far better than what you get with Railcraft.

In many ways, Satisfactory is a game of logistics, of moving material around. This is driven at least in part by the fact that resources are widely separated. Most Minecraft mods retain the basic mechanics of Minecraft’s ore generation, which means resources are evenly distributed everywhere, and there’s little reason to move anything long distances.

Gregtech in its various incarnations is an exception, since it had radically different ore generation, with widely separated, concentrated veins. That’s a whole topic by itself, I only bring it up since it’s one Minecraft mod where logistics did matter.

I never did try Gregtech, I don't think it would get along with many of my other mods.
I guess overall I am referring to machinery linking for processing and transport plus the exploration (and dimensions). But, this does sound interesting and I will get it when it is ready.

Thank you for the replies.
