Is this version DRM free?
Hi everyone!

I am currently considering to buy this game, however I am not sure whether to buy it on Steam or on Epic Games. In general I prefer Steam, but I know that the version on Epic Games is DRM free, so I wanted to know whether the steam version also was DRM free or whether (e.g. Steam) DRM is applied on the game here

Um, no, not everything on Steam has steam DRM. For example, stardew valley has no DRM even though it was published on Steam.
And as far as I have read, the you can use -epicportal to boot up Satisfactory on Epic games without its launcher, at least according to https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/b654f2/offline_mode_how_to_why_and_consequences_in_game/

not eeevvverything has DRM on steam, while yes. Many games have steamDRM making it so you at the very least need steam opened with your account logged in to play the game. There's also dozens of games that do not have this. One game as an example is Shadow Man, where you can straight open the exe to play the game.

Not sure the fuss about DRM, it is just a way to make sure you are running a legit copy of the game...but if you don't have a legal version then I can see the concern. :)

Some people still think they have data that hasn't been harvested yet LOL
Disable the WiFi/unplug the cable. No Data Collection, no probing connections.

DRM such as Denuvo often causes performance issues, and people who pirate games (even ones "protected" by Denuvo), end up with a better copy than people who actually purchase it.

Now some people see Epic/Steam/Origin/Uplay etc as a form of DRM. In that case, there isn't any performance issue in just needing a launcher. It's usually just a quick check online, which I believe varies from game to game or launcher in how often it does it.

That's not true, actually. Games do not require Steamworks DRM to be on Steam, they just tend to use it by default.

Kerbal Space Program is one example of a DRM-Free game on Steam. You can boot it without ever loading Steam.

DRM only matters, if your internet is unreliable trash that works maybe once a month. or if they are going overboard to the point piracy starts to sound appropriate because of the sheer amount of performance hampering the devs cause legit customers. which are far and few between scenarios only happening with AAA titles, if your internet is as bad as described, i recommend another hobby, or lobby your local goverment to improve this infrastructure.

well

I am terribly sorry to tell you Xilo that no just because you do not have a realiable Internet connection (which btw doesnt even have to mean low bandwidth if you simply suffer from packetloss...) is by no wa a sufficient reason to tell people to change their hobbies since A despite the nowadays common believe in the industry that everything and everyone HAS to be connected to a multiplayer service and B simply not being able to be constantly online is not a bad thing that person has any control about in most cases
why would anyone have to suffer for another persons ♥♥♥♥ up
thats just collective punishment...( the most despised version of punishment ever construed)

Or when DRM actually causes performance issues, such as Denuvo. The irony of DRM is in the end it only harms actual paying customers. Games with DRM are always going to be cracked even if it takes a month, and in many cases people who pirated copies end up with better running games do to the lack of DRM. There is no good reason to include DRM in single player games, especially any form of DRM that has to always check when launching a game or has to always be connected to the internet. If I wanted to play a game that is always connected, I'd have stuck with GW2 or ESO.
