use a miner with conveyor belts.
make plenty of room to build power plants and strong water supply with buffers etc
making the needed components requires decent amount of setup to.
set it all up then have uranium input as last thing and never go near it.
have it all automated and expandable.
consider disposal to.
remember that picking up conveyor belts and other objects will place uranium and other items into your inventory. killing you...
And for the big blob ontop to free it, take more filters ;)
MK1 (2, 3) on the node and then CTT :)
If you want to transport manualy, make more filters!
And no, on the mini miner you can not CTT. So, more Filters.
any suggestion on automating the crafting of fabric which requires mycelia too make the fabric for the gas filter (which is then used for the hazmat ffilter)? I know the ground plants in caves are a good source. And a really good source is these red and yellow stalk like plants found in the grasslands forest area. only problem with those is, only a few of the those appear to be harvestable. the rest i guess are just decoration or something. for whatever reason, the chainsaw won't cut them down.
That will let you fully automate the crafting process if you can get all the other stuff too.
I haven't gotten to nuclear power myself so, I don't know how complicated it will be to set this up.
Yes, you can run miles of power lines for automated miners.
And don't mine those random blobs of Uranium unless it's absolutely necessary. Some clumps have Mercer Spheres and Somersloops in them. Until those have a use in the game, they're not necessary and can stay right where they are.
1) Stay away from concentrations of uranium.
Exposure from a belt isn't bad, just a few filters will last. But if you get near a full container of uranium or accidentally get some in your inventory, you'll burn through filters.
2) Pick a good location.
Find a place where you have water. Keep storage, power, processing, and waste all away from each other. Waste storage in particular, make it very large and very far away.
3) Run belts high overhead and drop down where needed.
I can go through most of my uranium processing factory without hitting radiation. Next to the machines is dicey without the suit, but not too bad.
4) Prepare as much as you can before mining uranium.
Find a real node you can put a full miner on. Setup the transport (probably via train to intermediate storage) and make sure it's running. If you can setup the processing factory too that's even better. Once everything is ready, lay down the miner, connect the belt, and watch it go.
