Just like the majority of other games on this platform.
Edit: I wouldn't have anything against Epic if it weren't for how they went about their exclusion deals. Not the deals themselves. Own up to your decisions and stand by them. Smokescreens and pretending to make the world a favor is abhorrent.
You only "need" such a thing, if you have a friendlist in the Epic Launcher and would like to see the list in the steam version.
You even can play Multiplayer with Epicusers without having an Epic account.
"To play Satisfactory, you will have to connect to EOS...
Set up new EOS connection or share EOS connection with an epic account"
All menu option even the exit button are locked till you select one or alt f4. so yes you either have to connect your current steam account to EOS or link to it an EOS account you already have.
And you never needed an Epic Account
And you can access to EOS without an Epic Account. See the "OR" in your quote?
EGS and EOS are completly different things. With the exeption that they both are developed from Epic (like the Unreal Engine).
Or @Aberas, do you answer to Fazzans post?
I don't know where these that say it is a requirement are coming from, unless it was a way early version of the game.
Most up to date version of the game is playable only using your Steam account, no third party sign up needed to play.
To be honest I really do not enjoy having to launch Steam to play many games either, but Steam feels less intrusive than other platforms. :)
Again as i said in my latest post, read more carefully. "No account required, but the other option still connects your steam account to epic servers." yes it uses your steam account by connecting it to epics servers.
What servers?
Probably some telemetry at most, satisfactory is p2p, so the data is going to the host.
You do not need an epic account to play this game.
Unless you are like me, and bought it on EGS, because im not bothered about where games come from.
If you don't know how game servers and data gathering works you should refrain from commenting. As I have said 3 times now since my first post I know you do not need a epic account already, learn to read, LEARN. TO. READ.
Besides all that not caring about where your games come from or all the issues surrounding game development and development studies right now is just ignorant.
I know how this stuff works in a basic form. At most, epic will gather your ip address and your steam id. Both pieces of data are public, and can be gathered from any third party app. If you have issues with either of those bits of data being public...then speak to valve.
But, as i feel is important to note. You do not need an epic account to play the game.
And no, it's not ignorance. We just all have our lines. I won't partake in any games where the developers have behaved poorly. Your's appears to be very confused, asking if you need to connect to an epic account to play multiplayer (which you don't), then spending the rest of the thread adamant that you know you don't need an epic account, despite asking if you do in the first post.
So...no, you do not need to log in, or connect to "epic game store". EOS is not EGS. And if you have issues with where data is going, especially if you don't trust epic for some reason, then why on earth are you playing unreal engine titles.
