Oh I have no doubt I could 'handle' the situation, I just feel logic gates would be far more efficient and well.... logical.
You could compress down several splitters into a single unit that also control flow so that you might have more of a resource going to one form of manufacturing over the other.
I got 100 hours out of the game. I'm happy with that. I may look at the Advanced Logistics mod or I may just move along. Haha, or maybe I'll just fire up Tekkit again to scratch the logic gate itch.
A smart splitter with an overflow setting is enough to handle almost any scenarion.
Set direction A to any and direction B to overflow.
Construct a manifold in direction A - done.
The machines will take what they need.
Everything else will go to direction B.
This is essentially a problem solving game, so giving players a very easy method to solve those problems is probably not a good move.
Having said that, I was here for the fancy tech, not the problem solving. But that's my problem not the games.
While they're at it, they can allow us to designate which parts of the splitter are inputs/outputs so they can be used as intersections. Awesome.
They're already planned. It's just a feature that hasn't made it in the game yet.

Well that is interesting news thank you - but it doesn't change my opinion on the matter at all. I believe the current ruleset for mergers and splitters to be rather integral to the mathematical / problem solving / logistical side of the game and that CSS should be very cautious about changing it.
I really enjoyed my ~90 hours with the game, I'll just pause my play through until that update eventually drops, then resume and checkout all the other cool new things released as well.
Thanks for the video link.
