Top of the rocky desert
So i made my way up, through the waterfall cave and up that hill of sand

the top of that mountain looks really undone, is that the case? or is this a super cool flat spot i can build a base?

Has anyone been upthere? is anyone familiar with the road map of development? there are a lot of random holes leading into this big empty pit in the terrain all around the mountain so I imagine its unfinished

Yeah I got that impression too. Assuming you're talking about the same area, the cave behind the waterfall was cool, and some nice little platforming on that area, then you finally get over the top of it all and... nothing.
It seemed really out of place with everything around it, like it was missing something or just totally unfinished.

its that whole area that makes me want them to add some cool things to exploring. maybe more than just aimless wandering, I know theres slugs and items WIP i hope they mean something.. cool bosses or platform puzzles would be cool. Going through that waterfall cave was simple but i guess the platforming part was satisfying

*edit* the area sw is cool too, and idk how bosses would be implemented.. not super combat focused or maybe guardians you have to sneak around for a cool artifact idk just a though

That's the Dune Desert. Rocky Desert is far West of there.

I've been atop those two mesas. I built 10 reactors on the front one, and storage bins on the second for the waste. Still had plenty of room for probably 50 more reactors and a couple of thousand waste containers.

I build some core components in the valley below, and belt those up a sky ramp to the top, where they go through final processing before being turned into whatever the reactors need to make fuel rods and whatnot.
I belt the uranium through the sky on a bridge, well above the ground, and around the outer ridge of the mesa so as to limit the radiation field. When I need to go up, I hop on a belt. I've also got another belt coming down (turns out if you place a splitter/merger anywhere and stick a belt in it, it's powered).

Certainly looks incomplete. The landscape hasn't been painted like other areas. It's just the base layer there. That's why the texture looks tiled and repetitive. Painting different layers usually disguises that.

My God, man, you deserve a reward for that level of patience and dedication. Did you belt the concrete up there or did you make several trips?
