They had every reasons to hate him. As well as an Epic Shill, he straight up says "What's Steam?" when a question regarding when it will be released to Steam. This kind of behavior, as well as how they acted on that question, makes me dissapointed that they became ♥♥♥♥ to their own customers.

It's still probably not a big deal that the community manager, among literally thousands of others, are making light of the "what is steam" meme. It's simply a reminder that Steam isn't the center of the gaming universe, even if it is very popular. So, maybe just don't get worked up over something with such low impact.

Edit: and I'm not directing this specifically at you. A bunch of people on this board are freaking out about this non-issue. It's pretty silly.

can not remember referring to the "what's steam" thing but i tried to turn a joke on them with remining them off their bad puns and still joining steam ... but of well i had a bad timing .. not only the h(e)aters are heated also the defenders, i am kinda amused here on my side and just plain glad that i can finally enjoy to know WHEN my download willa ctually finishe on patch day ... Epic Launcher is just such a piece of crap it's unbearabel .. unbearable .. crap i never know if le or el is the right ending XD

edit: my second post was just another hit on a bad pun, meaking this sort of pun makes him look like he is sulking because of the hate and posting bad puns to release some "steam" ... okay enough bad puns for today XD

Personally I take it as just another insult from the developers and their lack of respect for potential customers. Mainly because they showcase the game here "Coming Soon" June 2018, yank everything down from Steam and many customers that was anxious to buy their game to go to EGC exclusive. Bait and switch is a very unethical business practice. Then come back here "Hey guy's we are back now you can buy our game!! "Oh what is Steam?"
No communication for 1 year, removing everything, then put it all back like nothing ever happened, unprofessionally insulting the platform you are coming back to as well as said platform users!! Non-Issue?????

I've seen a dozen videos or more talking about the updates to the game, their plans for future EA goals, and just generally anything and everything they have to talk about. Jace (Jembawls), and many other members of the team regularly chat on Discord and stream on Twitch.. So I don't know what you mean.. Oh, you mean they aren't talking to you directly here on your preferred game platform.. What is steam, again?

The game isn't even going to be here on steam for probably several months. Are you guys going to be here every day complaining about any perceived slight?

I really don't like the community manager and his tone. Even if they are jokes it's in a nonprofessional tone. This coming from someone that is the face for them makes it feel like hes being a jerk more than a joke.

As someone who owns both Sanctum games and all their DLC as well as every bit of Goat Simulator-related content... these "jokes" revolving around Epic Games Store exclusivity and the delayed Steam launch leave a lot to be desired.

A large portion of Coffee Stain Studios' fanbase and community uses another launcher/store that's the most fully fledged one of its kind and packed to the rim with futures. It's also an established one at that which a lot of people feel they can trust. And then all of a sudden a new game from Coffee Stain Studios is announced and said to be on another platform.

While not ideal: the move can at least be respected providing PR and the subsequent announcement itself isn't anything close to the disastrous Ooblets post. I feel that's why Hades and its devs were left off the hook by gamers and also the fact the Epic Games Store and Epic in general hadn't shown its full colours back then and that they weren't interested in competition but merely replacing one quasi-monopoly (Steam) with an even worse one that actually can end up being a monpoly (Epic Games Store). Not to mention this new competitor comes with a lot of broken promises like: games will cost less, regional pricing will be supported, features on the EGS roadmap marked as shipped/completed are actually shipped/completed and the list goes on really.

The problem is I, and most of my friends, haven't felt like Satisfactory's launch has been handled correctly and that a lot of the criticism centered around EGS has been flat out ignored or simply not addressed. EGS needs to improve and developers flocking to it need to understand that gamers don't care about using another platform/launcher - they want competition in fact - they just want a store that's not barebones and its only merits are an extra 18% of revenue goes to the game developer (or publisher in most cases) and free game giveaways.

Compare EGS to launch and it's still a far way off from being taken seriously. It may be paradise to some developers but it's beyond clear the customer is last priority on a storefront like EGS and that is why there is an uproar against it on a scale that's unprecedented and major developers/publishers are backing away either due in part to fear of losing their already-existing fanbase or because they realise EGS is a lemonade stand pretending to be Wal Mart.
