Haven't heard directly but I've seen a few people I trust say that devs said there won't be more maps or extensions to the existing ones. However, they might rework some of the biomes that are less appealing, like they did with the dunes. Maybe there is a new biome planned for one of those areas, who knows. Still, snow wouldn't make much sense, and they have been very consistent about having things make sense.
But you know, plans change. There's always a maybe for brand new things.
To experience a bad snow biome, open a new tab in your browser and soak in that bright white.
I agree that snow wouldn't really fit this map, though it might work on a really tall mountain or such.
Seeing how particular and fantastic the environment is in this game, I would totally trust map makers to create an outstanding snow biome
But I'd be dreaming I guess, the map is already huge, diverse and well made. When I think about it I doubt they'd invest development time in the map. But it'd be cool
