But the funny thing is, in this game, I DO like it. I'm even to the point where I reflexively punch that resort button every time I enter my inventory. Now I realize I'd love it to do that automatically. Agree.
Side-rant:
Why do I like auto-sort here so much? Perhaps it's because of the small size of icons makes it hard to tell which is which without focusing more than usual. So auto-sort can ease my focus a bit by lumping all similar items together. Perhaps it is good because the equipment items are duplicated in a separate area that show as "usable" in the inventory, so at a quick glance I can see how much of what other equipment I have available. Similarly, this area highlights all ingredients and outputs of a building when I select a recipe.
I do understand your point, as i actually do not like to sort my inventory, and like to arrange things the way i like on my inventory.
But its not about one being better than another, we can all agree organizing the inventory manually has advantages and auto-sorting also has it own advantages. There should be an flick to opt into auto-sort or not for real. This its huge for this game where you have to manage huge amounts of materials which are tiny icons on various inventories.
So we can change into one or another depending on the current situation
*embarrassingly notes 50 hour play time*
Why on Earth isn't there a SETTING which auto-sorts containers and your inventory?
It took me around that amount of time to realize you could use ESC to get out of menus. This where it says "ESC To Close Menu" on the menus.
Are we too stupid for this game? Maybe. Is the UI lacking in refinement? Maybe as well. The menus are clean, but they don't use their space quite completely logically.
