The lack of ladders in the early game is aggravating.
So I found a solution after accidentally grabbing onto the side of a stackable conveyor pole. Just use a butt load of them. They look almost natural if you construct them into a conveyor lift. Honestly, I would have just suggested the devs build the ladders into the sides of the lifts anyway. xD

Just in case you are unaware of this:
Containers and industrial containers also have ladders on their sides.
But yes, apart from those we have almost no usable ladders (as in useful for traversing your factory or terrain) in the game yet.

Yeah, I got that. I think the stacking conveyor columns are possibly the most useful accidental discovery I've made. They're cheap, can build them while you climb, can clip into geometry and are aesthetically pleasing. Give it a try. I've basically climbed terrain like it wasn't even there.

Screw regular ladders for now. xD

Watch towers are also super useful for climbing up cliffs and stuff when you go exploring, and if have Blade Runners you can jump onto the very top of it to gain a bit more height.

Everything about the early game is irritating, its what motivates you to progress.

I'm using stackable belts as ladders.

Tutorial: Conveyor belt, Storage container
T1: Lookout tower. foundations
T2: Jump pad, stackable poles

There's plenty of ways to attack the terrain early game.

Notice how I specifically talked about ladders.

Lookout tower doesn't clip into terrain and looks tacky. They're not designed to scale anything and are only barely useful for that. Jump pad is fairly costly, has a power requirement and looks finicky to use. Unlike, you know, a simple ladder.

Also, I think you just read the title and not my post because stackable poles are basically a ladder and I said I solved my issue. I would prefer some simple ladders to be available right away though. Possibly with the wall/foundation unlock.

I have almost the same setup . as another mentioned there are ladders on storage containers but not optimal for moving around quickly. Also do any of you use a xbox controller ? Am i missing something about dismantle?

My problem is my obsession with trains and how ugly they are in this game. In factorio they are natural and in this you basically build sky bridges everywhere because there's no natural way to terraform the environment to make smooth roads/railroads

You can also just ride the conveyors up or down as well. Besides just stacking them.
