How do I defend myself??

I bought Satisfactory because I really love Goat Simulator and wanted to support Coffee Stain. It's a completely different game, though, with quite the learning curve. My biggest problem right now is that I keep getting my ass kicked by monsters that will follow me for 10+ real life minutes. They don't seem to have a spawn radius they stick to, and sometimes even get on my HUB and attack me there. I have no weapons and cannot fist fight--- how am I supposed to survive???

You start with a zapper. If you die, you have to get it back from the chest, or craft one at a workshop if you managed to get that far.

Is that the blue thing in the hotbar at the bottom of the screen? How do I equip it? Thank you for the speedy response.

The xeno-zapper. You were forced to equip it right after deconstructing your pod. It's your first weapon. You start with one.

Wonders what opening my inventory and actually reading the items will do haha. Thank you so much for the help :)

here's the easiest tip: play through the tutorial. it literally guides you on how to equip stuff and build things slowly at a steady pace.

build the upgraded xeno zapper asap. helps fight with better radius and kills the hogs in 2 hits. spiders are the only thing that tends to follow me for awhile. ps- if you are driving a vehicle most dont attack you at all and they cant damage you inside anyway.
