A story in some form will be added near the end of development.
Also.. Do it without mods.. The later add in some mods on a different play through.
And on the way doing this....many extra ideas will come to your mind....like megafactories, transporting oil all over the map etc........ those ideas will cost you many many hours.
i like this game so much...for me its Game of the Year...even in Early Access
- Relying on nuclear power longer term also needs things to deal with.
Most of the time I just tab out to do other things while waiting for resources to stack up, the game is super casual.
Explore the planet
Locate resources
Create machinery that gathers those resources
Create factory equipment that turns the resources into ever more complex parts
Create power generators (Biomass, Coal, Oil, Nuclear) to run your machinery that visibly pollutes the planet (yes really)
Connect everything with conveyor belts
Kill off most of the animal wildlife with melee and ranged weapons (except the Lizard Doggos, you can befriend them)
Research items you find when exploring
Send manufactured parts off planet via the Hub and Space Elevator
Drive a number of all terrain vehicles (5 types currently)
Make trains with tracks and stations to automate delivery processes (the other vehicles can also be automated)
Create massive structures such as concrete and metal bridges to help you get around and buildings to house your machinery
Set up hypertubes you are sucked through for rapid personal transport (like the Futurama intro)
You can use your factory to collect Achievement statues, the highest of which will take quite a long time
There's over 100 hours of gameplay in a single playthrough and it's never boring.
I had 33 hours of game play on June 29th.
Now on August 1st.. I have 374 hours of game play. I do not run the game in the background.. So if it is counting hours I am in game.
There are only 768 hours available between 29 June and 31 July.. So that means I played this game for 45% of the real life time In the last 32 days :)
Once you have unlocked all the Tiers (1 through 7) and once you have researched all the technology trees in the MAM .. the only thing you have left to do is build more things.
This game is open ended .. like Cities Skylines or Transport Fever .. so you can continue to modify your current game as long as you want to get it to your final form when you say .. OK, i am finished with the play through.
When i get to that point .. i am normally ready to build Nuclear Power and I have generally spent around 100 hours in the play through and explored about 30%-40% of the world.
It is at this point where I need to make a decision. What do i want for this playthrough.
Do I want to go back and redo all my old pieces to include all the latest (new) Miners to bump up production?
Do I want to explore and unlock the whole map on this play through?
Do I want to unlock all the hard drives this play through?
Would I like to move my base to a different location and redo all the buildings, focusing on building aesthetics as well as functionality?
Would i like to minimize conveyors between nodes and maximize trains, etc? Reduce spaghetti?
Start a new playthrough?
