controller support
i recently booted up my steam purchased copy of satisfactory, only to find the xbox controller is not fully integrated into the game. does any of the mods or devs have an idea when this will be fully integrated? would love to play, however, i am accustomed to console style controllers, and switching to a mouse and keyboard style control scheme is something that my brain simply cannot process. please understand, and i thank you for your hard work, it is simply frustrating for me that more game do not consider former console players when developing thier in game controls.

The game page does not state controller support of any kind on the store page.

This game has never been on console. Games on PC are keyboard and mouse as primary, always. Your frustration is analogous to complaining about the lack of KB+M support on the XB1/PS4 (both of which actually support KB+M in a few games).

Finally, if your brain cannot process the use of a mouse and keyboard then there's going to be plenty of frustrations for you on this platform, where 95+% of games are KB+M only.

Best advice: Ask the devs on their discord or DM them on the subreddit and wait for an answer.
Other than that, try and use a keyboard and mouse, because once you get used to it you wont go back to controllers.

Official controller support was abandoned because many updates also required controller layout updates and that took time away from development.

They said they will put it in near 1.0 release which could be 2021 or later

Man, don't know what you are on about. I know a lot of games where they recommend gamepad over keyboard and mouse. And 95% of the games are keyboard and mouse only? Don't know what you are smoking because there are a ton of pc games that play with gamepad. Most of the pc games I play are while sitting back playing with a controller and with them on a big screen going through a theater system. Or are you one of those people that also don't realize you can play pc on big screens and through a theater system?

So silly there are still people like this... Reminds me of a person trying to call out a youtube video I did as fake, not pc gameplay but console gameplay because it had controller prompts. The person was so delusional, they just couldn't believe a game could be played on pc with a controller... Maybe this is that same person...

Gamepads have been part of PC development since the mid 90s.

The Unreal Engine has free drag-and-drop controller support modules for Xbox-style layouts (2 sticks, 2 triggers, 2 shoulder buttons, a cross key, 4 face buttons, Start, and Select/Back.

Fortunately Steam allows you to set controllers up.

It's not like it's hard to do, but if you patch regularly with changes etc to layout, you need to constantly be updating controller layouts.
They've opted to hold off on doing so in order to spend more time on actual development and implement proper controller support later on in development when the game is nearing 1.0 release.

If you want controller support.. Set it up yourself:

Edit: OK Guys, I turned on my Steam Controller and I right clicked on the game and picked configure controller. I then picked the Community Profile named: Nevir

This profile has everything mapped and it is fairly easy to use. I don't have an XBOX controller, but I'm sure there are good Community Profiles for these as well. If you want to use a controller, it should be easily doable.

NOTE: This profile does not require the game to support controllers, it use mouse and keyboard inputs. This would likely be harder with other than the steam controller because most of the other controllers do not have trackpads (which this profile uses to simulate the mouse for looking).

New builder here.

Personally I wouldn't mind KB=M so much if we had a choice of better field of view options. I am really disappointed that there isn't a controller input for this game. Hopefully they will get to it soon. :steamsad:

Thanks for the confirmation. It would be nice to have this feature for sure

Check out the experimental branch. There is an option under Menu --> Options --> Controls --> Enable Gamepad Input.
