Every node needs to be dedicated to something. Dedicate a node or two for your sink and keep playing
Here's all the items and the points they provide:

"feed into constructor(s) into awesome sink, let it run passively while you play"
Quartz Crystal is good for 50 sink points p/unit, while most ores are only work 15ish p/unit.
You don't need Quartz until mid/late game, not until after coal & you're already producing Steel anyway, so Quartz Crystal is probably the best item you can pump into the sink until you need quartz.
------------------------------
Let's take modular frames as an example, they're valued at 400ish each, producing 2 p/minute in 1 assembler - That's 800 points p/min. Plus you need Frames to make plenty of steel-related items, including heavy modular frames.
Quartz Crystal is worth 50ish each, producing 22.5 p/min, so 1100ish sink pints p/min.
You're missing the point. Points/minute is a largely irrelevant metric (and not to mention a huge waste of power in the early game) because you don't need to be constantly feeding items into the machine in order to get the one-time purchases.
Heavy modular frames are 11k points each. Computers are 17k. Some basic exploration will find you more than enough of these items that you cannot use for literal hours to buy every unique crafting recipe. Processing these will take about a minute.
Or you could run your quartz line into the sink for 7 hours, using an immense amount of power presumably while you're still on biofuel. It's just not sensible.
You may wish to write a suggestion and submit it on the official Q&A. If you add the URL for that suggestion to your OP, it will make easy for anyone here on Steam to upvote it.
As stated by the Coffee Stain community managers during live streams and recorded videos, individual suggestions on the official Q&A that receive a large number of upvotes are going to be noticed by the devs and then considered by them. There is never any guarantee that developers will implement ideas from players, but a reasonable suggestion can influence their decisions.
