OIL noob v2
Can someone with more experience than me come to my world and help me finde out wtf is wrong with half of my refineries? half work fine, the other half does not. I rebuilt them once over and still problems.

Thanks.

yes sir. I am stumped. 2 refineries per say, ratio is 5 making plastic/ruber (3:2) 4 making coke.

first refineries work nicely. second set up better than the first after a few thousand mistakes . power coming off of 2 differant coal generators are good. oil in the pipes on the IN side full. Baffles open and gauges say so. Recipes are in. belts are done. I dunno. stumped.

plastic/rubber produces heavy oil residue too, if the refinery becomes full of the heavy oil it will shut down.

this is the same for any refinery that produces 2 products, you must keep them both flowing out.

sorry if this has nothing to do with your question, i'm not sure what your exact problem is :)

Yeah definately focus on feeding the "residual heavy oil" into the another refinery. Then you can dump the resulting oil coal into the resource sink.

In the O.P., if not understood, I do that. first 5 refineries comeing frome the crude oil extractor, the are set up for rubber/plastic witha ratio of 3:2.

The second 4 colect the residual heavy oil for coke manufacturing.

My first refineries have the same set up, and work like a charm. As a matter of fact, in this set up scenerio, the first 5 are placed on a second floor structure, making pipes feed upwards without pumps before connecting to the refineries. The second set up was exactly the same and had problems. I destroyed and rebult on a flat surface the whole thing and I still have problems.

The pipes between the rextractor and the refineries have flued (oil) up to the refineries. The IN part.

The OUT part frome the refineries are empty.

Everthing is as should be in theory.

I used a calculator to figure how much is being produced generally across your entire oil complex.

You are using 3 rubber and 2 plastic refinery that also produce heavy oil correct? You will produce approximately 80 m3 per minute of heavy oil.

The 4 refinery working on petroleum coke will consume 160 m3 per minute of heavy oil. So you will need a second 3 rubber/2 plastic refinery setup to have everything running at 100%.

Intake and outlet seem all correct.

Since you mention building refinery on more than one floor height-wise. You might want to check your pipes to make sure fluid have enough fluid pressure to go where they should be going through usage of pumps. I had some issue with fluid, for my first oil complex, not moving from X height to Y height. Does that make sense?

Beyond that I am not sure what is wrong without taking a more in-depth look at your layout.

Screenshots would probably help a lot with troubleshooting (From here anyway).

So the scene is:
1 Oil Extractor
-> Oil
-> 5 Refineries(3 Rubber + 2 Plastic)
-> Heavy Oil Residue
-> 4 Refineries(Petroleum Coke)
-> 2 Coal Generators (+ ?)

Which parts are not working exactly and what colour are the lights on top of each machine?

Try running down the lists here: https://satisfactory.gamepedia.com/Indicator_Light to help you try troubleshooting it yourself in the meantime.

Sidenote; those are some odd ratios if I'm honest, though it doesn't explain why the system as a whole wouldn't work.

Assuming no over or underclocking, at 100% efficiency, per minute:
1 Oil extractor would produce 60m3 (Impure), 120m3 (Normal), or 240m3 (Pure) of Oil
5 Plastic or Rubber Refineries would Consume 150m3 of Oil (30m3 each)

3 Rubber + 2 Plastic Refineries would Produce 80m3 of Heavy Oil Residue (10m3 per Plastic one, 20m3 per Rubber one)
4 Petroleum Coke Refineries would Consume 160m3 Heavy Oil Residue

4 Petroleum Coke Refineries would Produce 480 Petroleum Coke
2 Coal Generators would Consume 50 Petroleum Coke

what belts are you using to remove the coke from the refineries? Check to see if that is backed up. You'd need Mk4 belts to move 480 coke per minute.

So, it's 3 plastic and 2 rubber fyi.

I am all ears to improve ratios.

yes, 2 coal generators, one being fed coal keeping my first refinery alive and kicking.

Mask 3 belts everywhere.

The 2nd, not working refinery ... the two coal generators are working and being fed coke, but because the system isn't working, these generators are slow to burn coke creating a back up so I build an Awesome thingy to help eleviate the back up.

I am so willing for someone to come to my world and look and advise.

Thanks.:steamsad:

That change the heavy oil from 160 m3 to 140 m3 from rubber/plastic. So the actual petroleum coke yielld will be slightly less than 480 unit per minute but I don't think that explain what is wrong.

Mark 3 belt can only carry 270 units per minute max and the 4 petroleum coke can produce 440 units per minute. So you will need at least 2 belt carrying petroleum coke (270 + 270 = 540 greater than 440).
