Multipleyer without single host?
Hey. Is there any information about whether there will be a dedicated server? that my friends would be able to connect at any time not just when I'm in the game

Meaning neither of us actually have a copy of the file ever, it is only stored on docs and all changes are reflected. When Satisfactory goes to read "yoursave".sav that hardlink points to the "yoursave".sav in your google doc directory. Definitely look into this if you don't know what Symbolic Links are but all in all it is easy stuff.

This allows for either one of us to boot the game up, do whatever we please and have whatever happened save for the other to see all changes. This also works just fine if we play together, either one of us can host and after the session it syncs and uploads just fine for the next solo or group session.

Note: In multiplayer all players that join the game permanently have their character model in that game, I imagine as a result of how saving works. So just be careful where you are logging off so you don't block your buds builds.

I really want to know this as well. Wish we could get a dedi to host a game for my friends and I.
dedicated servers are on (or very close to) the top of the list. It will just take some time to get them.

You're still going to have someone host the server somewhere though.

But when the Server is set online this person do not have to be online ;)

...correct. But it doesn't mean Coffee Stain are hosting servers. You'll still need to find someone to do that for you, unless YOU leave the PC running all day to serve.

Yes. this is also the definition of a dedicatet server. A server, which you can set up by your own, without help from third parties. Aside of an online server platform.

Same as dedicated servers of factorio.

AS a workaround you can also just share the savefile once a session is done.

Well... no. A dedicated server is by definition one that doesn't require the game running. Having it hosted remotely or locally (or indeed officially by the developer) has nothing to do with it...

I somewhat agree with that, but the diablo 3 servers, hostet by blizzard are not called dedicated servers. All dedicatetd servers I know of runs always on some private machines or on some 'bought' serverspace :)

Like our 'Legend of the Green Dragon' Server :)

Quick note I forgot to mention with this.

My friend and I had to turn off epic’s cloud feature for this work. Maybe steam’s won’t cause problems but if there is a problem turn steam’s cloud sync on this game off.

symbolic links and hard links are two very different things, you made a symbolic link, A hard link requires a file to be on the same physical drive

I actually made a hard link by having a representation of my google docs drive present on my computer, as I understand it. I'm no computer expert but I do believe "mklink /H Link Target" is a hard link. I could be wrong, if I am thanks for the correction! Either way it works.

Just checked out my file structure, looks like the .sav is physically still on my computer through the google doc back up and sync app. My bad, thanks again for that correction. In this case either a hard link command or soft link would work. Just some added technical applications if you use a hard link as I understand.
