Lizard Doggo Petting?

I can't help but notice these awesome Lizard creatures and that it tells me to press E to pet but nothing seems to happen and the lizard Doggo just slowly backs up from me. How do I pet!?

Make sure you have at least 1 berry, when the lizard doggo is staring at you open your inventory and drag a berry outside the window and let it go to drop it. Doggo will come to you and eat it, then you pet it, then you have a scaly little friend who finds crap for you.

Take off your blade runners (if you're wearing any) and drop a single pale berry on the ground in front of you. The Lizard Doggo will slowly approach you to eat the berry, once it has eaten the berry you can press E to pet it. You have now tamed it and it will follow you until you move too fast or jump too high (blade runners/jetpack) so you can now walk it back to base and enclose it to make sure it doesn't run off. They from time to time pick up random items so it's always good to have a few tamed just gathering stuff for you. They can basically spawn in power slugs. Be warned that they also sometimes find nuclear waste, which if you're early game can be a deadly surprise if you don't know how to deal with it.
