Is there a way in game to holster or put away my weapon?

Not that I'm aware of. The only way to have completely empty hands is to either have nothing equipped in your hand slots, or unequip the thing in your current hand slot and don't change slots or you have to do it again.

At this time, there isn't. You have to open your inventory and unequip your current item.

if you have it equiped then take it out of the hand slot your hand will be empty untill you move to another item, theres no button to outright put it down while keeping it in the hand slot

i put a fruit in my hand or the coffy cup when not want my weapon show, so i can quick take wep as getting attacked

As this was still one of the first search results I just wanted to add that there is now a key binding. So just press "H" to holster.
