Anyone else feel Modular Frames produce too slowly?
Modular frames feel like a really sore spot. You need 10 per minute later on to create Heavy Modular frames at a constant speed. A single assembler produces only 2 per minute! So that is 5 Assemblers dedicated to Modular Frames to feed just 1 Manufacturer set to produce Heavy Modular Frames! Then of course you'd need even more Assemblers to make the Reinforced Iron Plates and everything else behind that!

This seems like a real kink in the production chain. Modular Frames either need to produce faster/cheaper or Heavy Modular Frames need to cost less standard frames.

You do realise that if they produced faster, you'd still need just as many things in line behind it to handle the demand, right?

Pretty sure it was intentional that a lot of the materials have long production times. It encourages you to either scale up your factory or go out to explore while you wait. (or leave your computer afk obviously). It also highlights the need to plan ahead. I left my T7/8 phase 3 unlock till the very end and had to wait ages for the 2500/500 crafts to complete.

Yeah, I fully get scaling but what I was getting at is this is excessive. Like unbalanced so, imo. This one item requires MASSIVE scaling that is beyond most other things other than Screws.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Screws.

I set up my production line based around 2 overclocked (250%) assemblers making the modular frames to save on space, you could also just setup 5 assemblers for the same job and overclock none of them. I produce the modular frames and all the other early game iron products (rods, screws, plates, reinforced plates, rotors) off 4 normal iron nodes with mk2 miners (haven't unlocked mk3 yet) the demand isn't that much, its only 480 iron ore/min for everything. The modular frame line by itself can run off way less ore/min than this to produce 10 per min. However I haven't done the math on it so I can't say for certain how much it'd require exactly. What I'm trying to say is the requirements to make heavy modular frames don't seem as bad as you make them out to be. Just keep expanding your factory.

Try to get the alternate recipes for Casted Screws and Bolted Frames from scanned hard drives.

They make it a lot easier to make Modular Frames.

I think something to consider is how this is a late-game item, and you really don't need it that often. By the time you're making this, you're moving stuff around on mk4 belts, which means you can make modular frames at decent speeds pretty easily. Couple this with the fact that your only major needs for this is the adaptive control units (1/min), and some structures, and you'll likely have them always available when you need them. At least until you go to build a turbofuel factory and suddenly need 1500 of the things...

I do only have like 5-6 alternate recipes and none of them help with the frames. =/

Well, I did get one for Screws that requires steel beams instead. I suppose I could convert to that and then free up a lot of my iron ore for making the Reinforced Plates...but it'd be a big hassle lol

I think it is appropraite for the frames. You don't really need them early game for anything other than some buildings and 1 of the lift parts.
Heavy Frames are crucial part of a new, higher tier alongside Computers. It is fitting that they are a step up to produce compared to previous stuff.

And about normal Frames again - their recipe is not that complicated, all they need is iron. So it shouldn't be a big struggle to increase production for you.

You really want to find stitched iron plate.

That alt replaces screws with wire.

Yoy can then use your copper to make lots of wire, OR find another alt, iron wire. That alt is slow, and inefficient compared to normal copper wire recipe, but the tradeoff is only one resource needed.
