Is it better to just mass produce massive quantities than to try and create specific products?
I just reorganized my factory for the millionth time and im still getting stuff backed up. I usually try to get 100% efficiency but now im wondering if I should just mass produce then split what I need from storage.

i always mass produce and split off, 1 going to storage, 1 or more going to produce other things, then i overclock machines to keep up with the split, seems to work out well

To be honest, I *try* to get things at least somewhat efficient.. but at the end of the day the lower tier products end up overfilling their storage and shutting down anyway.. so it's not really necessary to be 100%.

I want my stuff to overfill a bit, because that gives me storage containers filled with stuff to draw on when I need it for construction. So I typically make sure I've got enough going in to not slow down anything down the line, and at the end of the supply line I split off the excess into a conveyor going to a storage depot I can resupply at.

I say produce massive quantities, store 1 industrial container, split as needed for other machines, and use a smart splitter with overflow setting to dump spares into the sink.

pretty much this, im still before smart splitters on my current file and if i notice a hang up i just enable a track to a nearby storage by hooking it back up. having a stockpile to eat through on any given resource is always a good idea while your still working your way through the tiers.

mass produce and throw everything at the coupon machine.. get those statues!

Naturally, it's best to mass-produce all the products at once.

It's even fairly straigthforward, as higher-tier items use lower-tier ones as ingredients anyway.

Depends on your style and even preference for that run. Sometimes mass production, massive bus and belt insanity, sometimes each factory is a self contained system, only feeding base material into them, and everything for a single product happens in the same place, maybe with a side product if it is obviously the best way, instead of a separate building.

I avoid mass production as much as possible. I tend to just run the raw materials into a building and I'll end up over clocking/under clocking machines to match the Raw resource input. Normally by the end of the line I'm producing about what I need. If I do produce to much it storage then A.W.E.S.O.M.E. I like to keep everything going no matter what. It gives me a better idea of what my power needs are.

If you're getting stuff backing up, your numbers must be off, or your storage buildings can't cope at the end-of-line.

There are always the Sinks to handle stuff like that.

depends on what you are trying to produce. if its something slow like a modular frame or computer then it might just be the wait time itself
