in all seriousness though, probably wont be for awhile, i mean they JUST came to steam, and the game still isnt finished and in EA.
I own a 6yr old iMac. I partitioned the hard drive but I have limited space on the windows side. GeForce Now gives me access to many games at once and I don’t need to worry about space. Not to mention my setup is really only able to play a game at Medium/Low graphics, well with GFN I smoothly run at highest settings for any game - I can see that I’m using a video card I’d never be able to purchase.
Personally, I have a toddler and my gaming time is limited to a few hours when everyone asleep. Well downloading a new game is an investment to me as some of the newer games take time to download. GFN has no download time - it’s already on the server.
Just purchase a new PC right? Well replacing the iMac is a hassle on a few fronts but ignoring the labor it’s going to be $1000 at least to get similar results - machine + monitor. But if I get similar functionality from a gaming perspective for $5/month - that’s really not a hard choice for me.
Why GeForce Now versus others? Mostly because they are committed to using the same license that my personal PC uses. So if I did get a shiny new PC in the future then I could still play the games I purchased during my time with GFN. Although, I have to admit - it really meets my needs and I’m not sure I’ll go back. But who knows - companies get greedy and I like having options.
Literally what it feels like to me.
Is the input lag noticeable? I assume for a game like Satisfactory its not really a large issue, is it an issue for other more faster paced games?
Interesting phenomena they don’t advertise as a benefit to cloud gaming is that your ping is way lower to the actual gaming server since the service is run from a data center. Ping less than 20 isn’t uncommon. Sure I still need to remote into the GFN service but I always seem to have good latency there.
Cat6 connected to modem and 300mbps plan... smooth as butter with beautiful reflections off the water
I've played some games on Stadia (including FPS/action) and normally don't see lag
