Videos showing how to align Water Extractors?
The wiki gives a convoluted workaround, for water extractors' lack of snapping:

https://satisfactory.gamepedia.com/Water_Extractor#Snapping

But I'm more confused by what it doesn't explain: how to build underwater. Tricks for getting foundations below water level, preferably by someone who understands the UI and knows how to do it without wasting an hour, etc. I'd like to see a video, if one exists.

Water extractors are easy to line up, just build a line of foundations, then place a pipe support and rotate it 90 degrees down toward the water. You how have a guideline to line up the water extractor to. Its not 100% accurate, but you can get quite close, after learning the method.

Just look at the grid box when placing water extractors and line it up.

Use the ramps to go under water, or different sized foundations, Just tested this out, biggest issue is when in water swimming you can't build.

Thanks, this is working well enough. I still can't figure out what the Wiki was talking about, but maybe I'll never need it to be "perfect" anyway.

not really in my experience unless your trying to min max the amount of pumps you can cram into 1 lake area.
