Better power sources, when?
I've just finished the Tier 0.
The only thing that I find ... annoying ... is the power source.
At what Tier can I stop fetching wood to get something automatic?

tier 3 Coal power is the first fully automated power source
untill then Bio Mass is your only option
So in Tier 2 you can do Obstacle Clearing to get a chainsaw and solid biofuel which decrease how often you need to go fetching. Then in Tier 3 you can unlock Coal Power which can be self sustained once you get it up and running.

Thanks.

Tier 1 will allow you to turn leafs, wood, etc. into biomass which is more efficient. Cargo Container -> Constructor (-> Constructor (for solid biofuel which is even more efficient)) -> Cargo Container helps with keeping biomass reactors running without the need to refuel them every few minutes.

actually, once you get the chainsaw... build a bio fuel center. 2 storage boxes. one with single output for grass, one with double output for wood. all 3 outputs go to their own machine for biomass. on one output from that (i put it on grass) have a storage container for just biomass. all the 3 outputs of biomass feed into 3 more machines making solid biofuel. merge all 3 of those outputs into a single storage container. the side output with biomass is for a later time when you need biomass for gas mask filters.

The biggest pains I find to the early manual Biomass feeding are all QoL stuff.

Having to furiously spam E to pick up loads of leaves/wood is irritating, when it be so much easier if holding down the button automatically picked up stuff.
It takes so long to get access to filtered splitters so you can just dump all types of Biomass into one container for processing, so you have to actively move between multiple to process it.
By the time I got coal I was running 5 fully overclocked Biomass generators, so having to go into each one and fill with Biomass instead of just being able to restock the fuel with the touch of a button is also tedious.

Avoid overclocking like plague while you are still using biofuel, it is fuel-inefficient. Applies to at least factories. If you need to make something faster, build another machine.
https://satisfactory.gamepedia.com/Clock_speed
With default clockspeed making 1 iron rod costs 16 MJ
With 200% speed the 1 rod costs 24.2 MJ...

What i do is i handcraft leaves and wood into biomass, then Container -> Constructor -> Container to process it into solid biofuel. That's really simple and handcrafting doesn't take long nor would you need to do it often. Use tier 2 belt to move biomass because it's being used at 120 / min in 1 single constructor. The making of solid biofuel is significantly slower to handcraft so don't.

Something like Hub (2) + 6 bio generators should last well enough until you get coal generators. Please confirm the ratio was 3 water pumps to 8 coal generators?
Edit: Yes, wiki confirm. Also that needs coal 120 / min.

I would bet in time there will be mods that add better power and other things. I know that dose not help you now but its the best I can offer.

Clock speed on production buildings ramps up significantly, but on generators its linear, so there is absolutely no reason to not overclock them to the max.

All that changes is they consume the fuel faster, but you don't have to fuel as many.

I guess in some respects, the biomass is to encourage you to begin exploring early so you can gather more materials while your factory is producing.

Might be just me, but I kind of like the harvest "era" of the game as it's an excellent time to go exploring early on (and looting the nature while I do it).

Later on I kind of miss it. :D

As I build different setups to automate leafs, wood, and cadaver into biomass (and later biofuel) it basically servers as an important automation stepping-stone very early on.

They already exist right now. There are mods that add renewable energy available right after you finish tier 0, and more renewable energy options in further tiers. I played around with them, and they are a nice addition to the game.

I like that there are renewable energy mods for Satisfactory but I'd love it to become Satisfacrory cannon; Photovoltaic, solar water heater, air source heat sink, (yay geothermal!), wind, wave, river turbine

Why? The company which owns you do not care about the planet and you can go nuklear. It is effective!

Aircraft carrier only need to refuel ounce every twenty years and there reactors could power 40,000 homes. Imagine how much coal is not burnt. Nuclear is the answer safer than bananas those contain radioactive potassium that can spawn antimatter.
https://www.symmetrymagazine.org/article/april-2015/ten-things-you-might-not-know-about-antimatter#:~:text=But other antimatter sources are even closer to,of potassium-40%2C a naturally occurring isotope of potassium.
"But other antimatter sources are even closer to home. For example, bananas produce antimatter, releasing one positron—the antimatter equivalent of an electron—about every 75 minutes."
Zaflis Jul 10, 2020 @ 7:52am
I think world should ban bananas.
