Bases: Move or Abandon?
I, with my picky 'waste not' view on these sorts of games, am currently in the middle of moving my base for the second time, and it's taking a while. So, I had the thought of how other players handle this sort of thing.

You're building along, when suddenly you're hit with the fact that your base isn't the great location you thought it was originally. Short on resources, poor location, maybe you just didn't like the scenery. But you've decided to build elsewhere. So, do you:

A) Deconstruct everything and haul all of the parts over to the new location, either manually or with some automated system, or

B) Abandon everything, take a few key bits and pieces, and just build fresh somewhere else?

Edit, via Timi
C) Set up the new base, and link it up to the old one with truck stops and automated tractors/trucks (or trains) depending on tech.

I usually find dedicated areas for certain resources and then connect them all with Hyper Tubes. Basically as you tech up you would have a base that provides all the starting resources such as Iron Plates, Copper Wire, Iron Rods, Cement, etc. Then you go scout out for another area that is rich in resources and you turn that into your steel base or any type of other resource you're in need of, like if you find a base with copper, quartz, and iron you could make crystal oscillators, if you find a large oil field you could make your plastic/rubber, a large coal patch could be your power plants, etc. If you really do not like wasting any resources at all then this link you would love: https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/production-planner you plug in what tech you are at "mk1-2-3 miners, impure, normal, and pure resource, belt speed, and what you want to make and it will tell the optimal way to make the item.

Really depends how far you are, but being few tiers in, I'd probably go with:

C) Set up the new base, and link it up to the old one with truck stops and automated tractors/trucks (or trains) depending on tech.

If you have functioning setup at the old one, might as well take the refined goods from it and port them in wholesale to a new location.

There's really no such thing as "waste" in Satisfactory, either. Ore nodes are infinite, and the only thing that is somehow finite is the power slugs. Ultimately I'd see my "base" being spread out and connected by trains, with few hubs focused on building up the intermediate goods with local nodes, and hauled off to a more central location to final assembly.

I might've considered C, except my new chosen base location was a good 4km trek, and the best I could do was one tractor.

I've just been doing the option C) @Timi mentioned above. The game really seems to encourage that in my mind and I appreciate making complicated logistical chains between bases.

Word of warning though: truck stops cost a lot of power for some strange reason.

I tend to just leave the old one up. The only time i'll tear down an old system is to replace it with a newer one. I certainly don't "move to a new location", The game allows you to set up outposts with all you need at them.
