Correct. You can only do one thing at a time because the M.A.M. database is global. This does mean however if you are out exploring and find something you want to scan, you can pop down your M.A.M. in the wilderness and start researching without having to come back to base.

Can still research multiple objects at a time.

Especially when finding harddrives it's usefull to set down a MAM, smack it in, and then remove the MAM again. But no, can only research one thing at a time.

20 hard drives is 200 minutes of waiting.

You should be either out exploring and finding new drives or building your factory while research is ongoing.
If all you do is wait, then you've either got the time to wait and it's not a bad thing, or you should be working on expanding that factory :D

yea if you just sitting and waiting for it to finish your doing it wrong the mam give extra stuff that really isnt usefull everything come from the milestones, you put stuff on the MAM and go back to working on your factory
