Question about conveyors belts
Are sepparate conveyors belt supposed to be able to cross themselve ?

Or is it a non intended features because it would be too difficult to resolve this without breaking the game ?

I assumed it was non intended so I avoided crossing them (since I hate things that doesn't look right like a conveyor belt that go through the ground), but I want to be sure that I'm not just making my life difficult for no reason.

I'm going to guess they're not, I've seen them try to clip walls and other objects too so probably a bug.

I'm sure it's intended, maybe for performance, samething with physic (the reason why a foundation don't fall if it has no support.

This is intended for now. All conveyor belts can clip through each other when you place them and sometimes clip through walls and terrain. This is all working as intended and is not a bug.

Well I think working as intended is a bit of a overstatement. More like the devs decided it wasn't worth the work needed to resolve the clipping issues.

The "no-clipping" is definitely not a bug. If things like belts and power lines didn't have that ability it would make the game way more finicky, right now at least.

On the fun side, people have have been building railways and stations in mountains, and all the way down to the lower limit. :D

Nope. This is how the game has to work. If belts didn't clip through each other we wouldn't be able to build things the way we do now. It would make the game almost impossible to build complex factory designs. It has to be this way for the game to work as it does.

So after reading what was posted I went around the internet for about an hour looking for a solid answer and came up empty. If the devs have declared this a feature or a bug I do not know, what I did find was old bug reports on it with some claiming a fix would happen before release and others claiming none was needed as some have said here.
My opinion is that it looks and feels like a bug that has been left alone at this time for necessity.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Im the type of player that builds in a way to avoid these “features”. Not really that hard, just extra planning.

Its not a feature or anything, its just the way the game works. There's almost no restriction on buildables clipping outside of things clipping with the machines. If you wanted to you can build belts that clip all over themselves, but that will be an absolute nightmare to manage eventually.

My belts never clip and my factory designs are complex as hell. there are lot of simple systems to avoid clipping.

its not hard to consciously build around clipping, so I don't see why it needs to be implemented.
Those that want a factory without clipping can already build that way.

That takes way way too much time and effort. Just connect everything and get going and let pipes and belts do whatever.

When placing belts, if you move up or down, you can adjust the height of the foundation pole so you can elevate the belt over other belts, or make it easy for you / a truck to pass underneath.

You can also keep stacking the stackable pole as well to create something similar to a "main bus". So far, I've only done that for a foundry generating a full lvl-3 belts' worth of steel ingots.

But I've got a second foundry complex coming online that's feeding steel pipes or some such to the AWESOME sink while I get a second layer going.

Thanks all I just wanted to now if I could be the annoying guy inmultiplayer about it, like in minecraft against people who only cut the base of trees!
