Completed level 4 HUB and can still not build portable miner

ANyone have any ideas?

I have built smelter, HUB, craft bench, equipment workshop and it just doesn matter.

At what level do I need to reach proper level to build a mining drill?

You get the portable miner at Hub 1. You need to make it in the Equipment workshop

it is a piece of equipment, not a building

You should have the portable drills immediately from the Equipment Workshop. It's a starter tech.

You should have been able to build it from the equipment workshop as soon as you built it, I think. The portable miners are an annoying break in the normal workflow: you don't craft them at the normal workbench and then to place them you equip them from your inventory like your shock prod.

I have the same problem. it doesn't show up in the crafting bench menu

Never mind. I finally found the recepie in the mail box. What a strange setup for this. All this time I was expecting to build the miner from the build menu......Is there anyway to move it to the buld meny?

because its a tool. tools are made in the equipment workshop; not the crafting bench

no, you very soon will not need it anymore. You only need like 3 or 4 portable miners to start with. However, they are needed as components for automatic miners later.

I think you need to get to Tier 1 level 4-5 before you unlock the automated drill. The game kinda makes you use that tier, to get the better stuff, and when you unlock the better stuff, you realize you need to scrap your current base and rebuild with the new tools...

im 5 hours in and already had to rebuild my base 3 times LOL

Check all options mate, even a 'toggle to run' option or 'arachnophobia' option is available... take the time to read the menu's, it helps alot. Also, see if you can use the multiple hotbars for different projects.... Welcome to this Awesome Game!

Thanks! I have played Factorio for over 1000 hours and this looks really interesting. Now I just need to figure out how to get the mineral on to the conveyor belt :)

EDIT; Just readt that they can not be connected. Well....at least I know:)

the portable miner is manual use only. you have to take it out manually and put it into a smelter or a container to get content or its products onto belts.

the autominer that unlocks around subtier 5 can output onto belts directly.

You need the big mining drill buildings for that. The little portable ones have to be emptied manually.

ive rebuilt base in one game over 30 times and still not done lol
