Is this Factorio in 3D?
So is this basically a Factorio in 3D or is there more in than in Factorio?

Kinda.

Its a 3d factory builder, with a hand built 4km x 4km map, and a research tree. The game doesn't have a campaign (yet).

and no tower defense, just some annoying and rare-ish enemies.

If anything, there's less than in Factorio, which is superior compared to Satisfactory.

I doubt it will have the depth of factorio, especially this early. And imagine how much area that would take making a factory on the same scale in 3D

Graphically its like jumping from gta1 to gtaV overnight. It looks great.
And switching to 3D creates a different game, even if what your doing is pretty much the same.

Which is why i said kinda.

Factorio and Satisfactory have similar elements, but factorio leans more on base defense, and satisfactory is more about base construction.

actually, i'd say this is as if not more competent than factorio. The fact that you're building in a 3rd dimention really makes a different spin on the factory building. You can build as many levels of belts and factory as you want. The map is quite nice to look at as well, rather than the monotone brown/green in factorio.

No. It is not factorio in 3d. There are similarities, though.

In satisfactory, there are no blueprints and no construction robots. You aren't harassed by ever evolving wildlife, and there are no defensive turrets and the like.

However, you can build in 3 dimensions, and there's exploration elements, because by roaming map you find things that let you unlock stuff.

Lack of blueprints hurts, though.

It is less competent than factorio, due to lack of blueprints. You'll have to connect every conveyer by hand, and place every block by hand. After you built 24th smelter/crafter chain, this stuff will slowly drive you nuts. However, the game has its cool moments.

and factorio will never have a campaign. they canceled that feature from their plans.

This is really the key difference as people don't play Factorio because they want a tower defense game, they play it for the logistic management. Satisfactory adds another dimension (and many miles of terrain) enabling maximum spaghettification.

Oh, i thought they still had an early version, my mistake.

I mean there is plenty of automation games out there so no? That is like calling every battle royale "fortnite" because it's the more popular title. There is some things that are the same like belts but to be honest the gameplay (not even pointing out the 3D vs 2D) is totally different. I personally love both but I feel Satisfactory is way more complex because of the 3D space and having to worth around that. Both are great games in their own ways and both have mod support and will keep being great games because of that.

Its a good way of generating an idea of what something is.

Like i would compare fortresscraft to a mix between minecraft and factorio....it doesn't quite explain what it's like, but generates an image that people can start from.

Its more like Minecraft. You place every block. There are no blueprints or bots.

Which isn't a bad thing, i far prefer to place my structures by hand as i can make modifications as needed.

Only kinda. It feels somewhere between Factorio and Subnautica.
