Is there anyone doing multi-level structure factory?
Is there any1 doing multi-level structure factory? Like 2 or 3 floors. If so, how'd you get the conveyor belts to transport to the upper floors or lower floors?

I'm planning to create a second floor that is higher than the lookout tower (so I would still have a good vision on which machine shuts down in case of a bad cabling and input starvation.
Problem is getting a material that high up using conveyors is not exactly space friendly, and conveyor lifts are still a month away (if they stay on the roadmap).

Any tips for me?

By using windows. Having it go out from one window then circle around and go through the windows above it. Having multiple lines makes a bit messy though.

Another way is to have an "interior" ladder system using the "wall perpendicular conveyor" piece stacked on top of each other on opposie walls, with space between those 2 walls. You can spiral the conveyor up that way.

Either way, you are going to have to use a fairly large building just for 2 simple lines. It's almost not worth even doing so due to resources/time. But if you like the challenge and like to have a small footprint, those are 2 possibilities.

It's very tiring to walk here and they don't even have suits to enhance your running speed at early or mid game at least. I am running out of space for even such a simple factory setup (up to motors and modular frames). I want to create another production station but the tractor system is seriously horrible in this game.

Materials I do not mind (I got like over 6000 concrete), it's the space that I'm concerned about. If 2 simple lines will take so much more space, I'm better off having my production somewhere else. Anyway thanks so much for the tip!

I challenged myself to create a 2 story factory w/o windows. I originally wanted to keep it as tight as possible and went 4 tile wide, but that just doesn't work w/ the "conveyor ladder spiral" system in between the constructors. So I had to go 5 or 6 wide. I got it to work. Looks nice. As compact as it is going to get due to the size of the constructors.

I'm off for the night, but will post pics tomorrow. I wish we could save building as "templates." Took me a while to figure it out, lots of trial and error. But now that I have it down, I may use it quite often to clean up my current base. It does keep things nice and tight.

The current location I started on is the Desert, which forces you to be careful with your planning. Intentionally did that to force myself to learn to be as compact as possible.

Mine is grassland, the newbie one. It's a lot of plains, but I just intended to make the factory as centralized as possible. 5 or 6 what? foundation tiles? Like 5x5 or 6x6? If that's the case, I don't think I would bother creating it. Maybe I would after more contents come out like the conveyor lift where it supports more towards multi level building.

Yes, foundation tiles. It's 5x3, that's the smallest I could get it by keeping everything inside. Smelters on bottom, merging to 2nd floor, then splitting to constructors and then outputting into outdoor storage.

Multistory is actually very easy and simple once you get the first level change cleared. It doesn't take a lot of space if you use the right methods. The Conveyor Pole Stackable is invaluable for multistory builds. A rough guideline is 2xCPS for each storage container or 8x4 Foundation.

Upcoming patch in April will bring another method for transporting items vertically.

There are few multistory videos on YouTube. They've helped immensely with ideas.

Thinking about starting in a new location.
How do the other two regions compare to the grasslands? (♥♥♥♥♥ is far away)

Grasslands is by far the easiest.

Desert has some great open spaces, but not nearly as open as Grasslands.

Forest (3rd option) doesn't have a lot of open space to build, but it's got some GREAT nodes close together. Found a spot that has 8 Pure Iron with 400m between the further nodes, a Pure Copper, and a couple Normal Limestones. Not a lot of open space there, but if you're wanting to try multistory, this is the perfect spot for it.

That's the spot with the weird colored (blue/purple/etc) trees right?
I've been getting the gist of the game down, like 50+ hours since Tuesday and have a firm understanding of the game. Literally found oil just this morning before work but forgot to bring the portable miner so I couldn't make the drill. There has to be an easier way to get to the oil nodes or something because I ended up building a huge ramp just to get down to the level.

Open spaces are okay, but I like building complex, jam-packed sites and using the terrain around me to build off of, so whatever has that sounds awesome

No purple trees, but there's some bulb tree things in the area. There's some white-ish (maybe these are the purple trees? in the right light, I guess they could look purple) weeping willow looking trees, also. A small pond where I dropped my HUB (it's apparently water-proof as far as operation is concerned) nestled next to a small cliff. And there's a large stone arch visible from the pond. Desert about 600m east, large cliff overlooking larger desert area.

I was able to lay out a 14x13 foundation, with some room to spare, to start my multistory factory. Working on getting coal running before I really dig into that, though.

I made the mistake of looking at other peoples factories, and not I wanna start mine over again

I've been tempted to look at others, but I like trying to figure it out on my own. Once done, it allows a greater understanding of the game, strategy, and restrictions.

I played all 3 starting points through T3. I then decided to go with Desert because of its challenges of terrain and alleged lack of bio fuels. Alleged, because I didn't find that to be the case. There was plenty, but then, I don't mind exploring a bit either. So for those who just want to say close to home all the time, I suppose they may struggle a little, but probably not overly so.

I'm on T6, shifting from coal to fuel. It's getting quite complex now, needing to piece together 4 components into 1.

Biggest advice I can give when starting fresh on a new start, is to be efficient with the early resources early on. Letting them get out of control can be frustrating as you'll end up wanting to go back and correct it all to keep it maintained. But I think that just comes with playing the game long enough. I'd imagine that anyone with 30+ hours feels the same way.

I'm still at 19 hours and I'm undertaking the oil milestone. While waiting for the 2500 wires to be produced (because I'm such a klutz I left the storage filled with concretes and cables that wires stopped to be stored), I'm building a factory for frames and steel etc. I think I'm going too fast, I never really explored the surrounding. I just discovered the lake as my secondary coal reactor.

If I'm done, maybe I'll just wait for their roadmap displayed right now to finish then start an entirely new game on a new map.

Upstairs 6 factories produce metal plates.Below 6 factories produce metal tubes.
Then it all comes out compactly on the other side

And processed into more complex parts.

The covered part of the factory went out in 7x8 walls. And a little outside.

By the way for fast running there is an exoskeleton
