to be clear - the hate on the epic store is not about multiple launchers, its about being pro-scammers
In case the devs check this site, the hate on you for making it epic exclusive has nothing to do with people being lazy and not wanting to download multiple launchers (except for maybe a few people). It has to do with the fact that the epic store is being built from the ground up to be PRO-scammy developers, vs steam which is pro-consumers.

This is clear from the fact that epic does not allow reviews and when they eventually do, will allow devs to disable them. Can you imagine this? What scam developer with a crap game is going to enable their reviews and comments? This ability facilitates devs putting out broken or fraudulent games and ripping people off by getting people to buy them without any transparency. Hate on Steam all you want but it has consumer transparency of the product built into the foundation of it due to the reviews and discussion forums.

It's sad that gamers are now put in the situation of choosing to buy a game they like, but knowing that doing so on the epic store is supporting a system which will be the death of honest consumer reviews in gaming. Each game on the epic is simply going to link to their paid-for shill games journalists reviews that gamers already hate and don't trust.

Its so funny that now everyone install EPG launcher to play Satisfactory.
But use Steam to complain about the Bugs or ask questions.
Using a platform that u can't even give reviews or discuss with other player?
It's so dumb.
My hate includes the above, but also that they advertised on steam, they were on the steam store page, and now they arent. This was a bait and switch for advertising, and as a gamer and consumer I am not going to support a company that yanks my chain like that.
yep same with metro and division 2......i was looking forward to this too but now i dont trust this epic store with my card and my time. I seen it had none of the features steam had n its making me not want to buy anything from that dam thing even more.

I like the discussion forums/reviews keeps me from buying scam games......think its just stupid practice to use one thing to advertise ur product then to switch to another
Personally speaking there's no hate here, just a determination to protect myself as a consumer.

Were the game on sale on both stores, with Epic completing on price v services I would have no issue with the game being sold there, but Epic aren't competing, they are engaged in anti-consumer practices in buying exclusivity deals to attempt to force me as a consumer to buy from their inferior product using the threat that if I don't then I won't get to play the game for another year as a stick to prod me into that purchase.

I will not support such practices, and developers and publishers that do so by taking Epic's 30 pieces of silver and handing over their products to these exclusivity deals will never see another penny from my wallet, I added 2 more to the list today, anyone else feel like throwing potential profit away?
No, for me it is about multiple launchers, more paswords, more crap to maintain. Valve have earned my trust and do get onto client bugs and they have a vested interest in addressing security issues.
For me the Epic Store is just not ready yet. To few features we already got through Steam and other Platforms over the years.
Also the Epic Store is REALLY unwieldy.

Another reason is the Friendslist.
For me Steam and Discord are the 2 things which are running most of the time, so i can see whos online.
I don't want to use another programm running in the backgorund and eating resources.

I can see the money aspect. But EA and Ubisoft have been doing it for years. By running their own Platform they don't have the ~30% cost.
At the same time they DO give permanent discounts, like the 20% from Ubisoft. (EA is more greedy and only gives 10% if you have an ♥♥♥).

Console Games NOT included, since they either cost 30% for digital WITHOUT ways to avoid them OR around 40-50% for Retail.

There's 2 sides to this.. The Epic Launcher sucks compared to Steam when it comes to features.. but you can't blame the developers for not wanting to get robbed for 30% of their revenue just because Steam has the monopoly of fan boys who won't purchase games anywhere else. Let's not pretend Steam deserves 30% of the revenue for a new game it has nothing to do with. I'll gladly deal with downloading the epic games launcher so that I can support Coffee Stain Studios on a platform that only takes a reasonable 12% of revenue.
Competition is great and there are plenty alternative steam-like launchers out there, although none of them are as feature rich as Steam. However I don't think it's worth having your data sold to the Chinese.
They are paying 30% more because Steam does have all of these features on offer,When Epic store get's on thier level and can still offer 12% maybe then i'll take your point on repeating the 30% devs pay but until then it's a non argument for me

At that point then, why even bother going with someones store or launcher anyway?
It IS possible to self publish, especially these days. Writing in your own launcher/updater is trivial.
Honestly this was a complete abuse of the steam platform. Look at games like Conan Exiles, they sell on steam but keep referring people in the discussions to their "official" site forums, especially for anything remotely connected to support.
Now Satisfactory comes along and advertises on steam, milking them for exposure, but goes to sell somewhere else. If we as consumers keep supporting this trend, its eventually going to make Valve crack down, likely in ways that end up hurting us.

Yeah developers get robbed on steam 30% is crazy, probably why they have so few games. Its not like self publishing is a thing and so few other platforms to pick from. You never hear people complain about having to many platforms...... (if you can't tell i'm being ironic)
Competition is the best thing for us consumer, i will have loved that it was released on both platforms and Epic compete on the pricing. Exclusivite is not good for us consumer and to be frank Epic doing the paywall seems like it will hurt more than what i gains. Most gamers are smart consumers and have morale, that is good it helps us all out.
Competition is good, a platform that silences reviewers and thus makes money by allowing crappy games to keep ripping off people when they wouldn't have otherwise been able to, due to transparency of reviews, is what my main concern was though. By supporting epic you are supporting their vision of what an online store should be: no reviews or optional reviews that can be turned off by the devs.

Its going to be a breeding ground for subpar games scared to put their product on steam due to bad reviews...

Not true. When you purchase on Steam for example you are also buying the ability for seamless forum discussion with tons of people who play the same game, friends list so its easy to play with people, really great and easy mod integration, steam cloud save ability which I personally love, and loads of other features. So you are kind of buying the store with each purchase.... Its just like when buying a house, you are also in a sense buying the features of the neighborhood where your house is at the good and the bad..
Here is why Steam can ask 30% and Epic Games can only ask 12% having a game on steam will sell much more copies than it will on Epic games. In the long run developers will make more money on steam even if the lose 18% more profit per game. So developer going to Epic Games are just stupid
