But use Steam to complain about the Bugs or ask questions.
Using a platform that u can't even give reviews or discuss with other player?
It's so dumb.
I like the discussion forums/reviews keeps me from buying scam games......think its just stupid practice to use one thing to advertise ur product then to switch to another
Were the game on sale on both stores, with Epic completing on price v services I would have no issue with the game being sold there, but Epic aren't competing, they are engaged in anti-consumer practices in buying exclusivity deals to attempt to force me as a consumer to buy from their inferior product using the threat that if I don't then I won't get to play the game for another year as a stick to prod me into that purchase.
I will not support such practices, and developers and publishers that do so by taking Epic's 30 pieces of silver and handing over their products to these exclusivity deals will never see another penny from my wallet, I added 2 more to the list today, anyone else feel like throwing potential profit away?
Also the Epic Store is REALLY unwieldy.
Another reason is the Friendslist.
For me Steam and Discord are the 2 things which are running most of the time, so i can see whos online.
I don't want to use another programm running in the backgorund and eating resources.
I can see the money aspect. But EA and Ubisoft have been doing it for years. By running their own Platform they don't have the ~30% cost.
At the same time they DO give permanent discounts, like the 20% from Ubisoft. (EA is more greedy and only gives 10% if you have an ♥♥♥).
Console Games NOT included, since they either cost 30% for digital WITHOUT ways to avoid them OR around 40-50% for Retail.
It IS possible to self publish, especially these days. Writing in your own launcher/updater is trivial.
Honestly this was a complete abuse of the steam platform. Look at games like Conan Exiles, they sell on steam but keep referring people in the discussions to their "official" site forums, especially for anything remotely connected to support.
Now Satisfactory comes along and advertises on steam, milking them for exposure, but goes to sell somewhere else. If we as consumers keep supporting this trend, its eventually going to make Valve crack down, likely in ways that end up hurting us.
Competition is the best thing for us consumer, i will have loved that it was released on both platforms and Epic compete on the pricing. Exclusivite is not good for us consumer and to be frank Epic doing the paywall seems like it will hurt more than what i gains. Most gamers are smart consumers and have morale, that is good it helps us all out.
Its going to be a breeding ground for subpar games scared to put their product on steam due to bad reviews...
Not true. When you purchase on Steam for example you are also buying the ability for seamless forum discussion with tons of people who play the same game, friends list so its easy to play with people, really great and easy mod integration, steam cloud save ability which I personally love, and loads of other features. So you are kind of buying the store with each purchase.... Its just like when buying a house, you are also in a sense buying the features of the neighborhood where your house is at the good and the bad..
