NieR Gestalt was released in the west in 2010.
What's being released in 2021 is (presumably) going to be very similar.
I'm not saying don't buy the new game, just that the option to play it has been there for a long time to anyone who cared enough.
Also people are mentioning the new game has a downgrade in the music. I don't know why they touch things that don't need fixing in the first place.
BTW this is Square Enix we are talking about. Their Graphic sure are second to none ( according to their FFXV ) , their music is also a blast with music being made by a whole ochestra of real people instead of digital music , which require tons of resources and munie compared to the latter ( also According to FFXV , just that one soundtrack at Leviathan fight is already enough to see how far Square enix can go with their budget ) . The problem is not that if they are capable of making or not but if they WANT to do it or not. Music is always one of their strongest pros , it saved many of their products ( also FFXV and maybe Kingdom hearts 3 ) so yeah downgrade in music for Square is really something we need to dive deeper into . There is no way this company will make a half ass music . They can make an unfinished story, sure , a downgrade graphic, true , but never a worse music quality . But what exactly is it downgrade from . Did they compared that to the Nier Gestalt game you mentioned earlier ? NO way a game in 2010 can have a better music quality compared to a game made in 2021 in my opinion .
They want to bank on nostalgia but at the same time they keep changing things... Corporate at its finest with too many cooks in the kitchen. I kept my expectations low to not be too disappointed in case they pull the same thing they did with Automata on PC but although I'll reserve my judgment for the finished product, they still manage to make me worried.
Only thing I wished for was the Original NieR on PC to finally make my friends who loved Automata experience it, guess I should stop using that monkey paw.
Of course a 2010 game can have better music compared to a 2021 game, Nier Gestalt's OST is on par with Automata's and is second to none. Quality is not just in the technical aspect, it is also in the quality of the arrangement, Gods Bound by Rules sounded incredibly powerful in the original and here it does not.
