Question about the source of magic in the universe of the game

In English, the source of magic in NieR universe is "maso". What is the word in Japanese? The English word "maso" has only one meaning related to Yoko Taro's context and it is very horrible. Is it a translation by pronunciation or translation by meaning?

It's Maso in japanese, which just means "Magic Particle/Element", oddly enough they don't localized it and just stick with "Maso"

That's fine then. Because the English word "maso" has a sex-related meaning that would devastate the universe setting of the series . However, that "maso" was originated in United States and went to Japan later. Is it possible they keep the word to attract a little more mad people to buy this game?

In the game it is stated that the source of the "Magic Particle/Element" was the alien object which appeared in Tokyo at the ending E of Drakengrad 1.

Maybe they couldn't take the word in the translation because the pronunciation of the word is longer than the time given in the dubbing to maintain the flow of the video and the lip movement of the characters.
